    No Sound No Output device

Running 19042.746 on a ASUS 2n1 computer. I believe this started 1 or 2 updates ago. I have no sound from the speakers or earphones with "the hardware device is not connected to the computer Code45" and "No output devices found" no pull down for choice. Device manager does not show a sound category unless I show hidden devices. Speaker icon in task tray shows a red "X". SFC /Scannow found some errors, ran 2x, no more errors. problem still exists.
    Appreciate any suggestions.

Where is the sound supposed to be coming from? Headset, monitor(s), speakers?

If you have any Bluetooth devices to test with, that might be interesting to do.

Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Troubleshoot sound problems".

It is factory default, the internal speakers. On occasion, I plug ear buds into the audio port. Have recycled that connection several times. But I think it should show at least a choice on the output device. Driver was updated with no change.

Code 45 says computer unable to find the device? "Error Code 45 is a common device manager problem that users encounter on any Windows 2000 and later operating system versions. The error occurs when your Windows system fails to acknowledge the connected device by either stating that the device is not present or that it was previously attached to a computer."

I have tried that troubleshooting with zero results. The test tone does not happen. It says it cannot find any problems. Next it wants me to talk to a human about it. Have not tried that

No, as far as Windows is concerned, there's nothing to which to connect the/any output device.
