Sound output lowers everything except for voice when using VoIP

    Hello,

I have an HP EliteBook 830 G6 which lowers the volume of sound effects, music and so on on videos and music when I use VoIP like Discord.

I searched for any way to disable it but I have not yet found a way to do so.

Does anyone has an idea what this technology is called and if there is a way to disable it?

    I am running Windows 10 20H2.

    Welcome to TenForums!

This is a feature in Windows. To change the behavior, do this:

Right click the speaker icon in the task bar and then select sounds.

Go to the communications tab and select the option that you want here.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you for your answer. This was my first thought but it does not work.
I'll try a restart and check if it does the trick...

Edit: after a restart it works... I am confused.
    Thanks.

Odd. I didn't realize that a reboot would be needed, but glad that it worked!

Thanks for posting back your results. I'll have to try to keep the reboot in mind for future reference.

Yeah, I thought it should work out of the box. But maybe it has to do with the HP drivers. I just hope this issue won't occur again. I had to deal with it since I got that notebook and managed to disable it somehow by installing the original HP drivers again. But the issue re-occured after some time. So let's hope it will stay that way.
