A friend of mine finds that his sound is uneven. If he plays, for example, a YouTube video, his sound might be perfect…or, annoyingly, too low – and adjusting the volume to 100% still doesn’t work well.
Is there any other adjustment worth trying?

Find the sound setting for "Loudness Equalisation".
You may find the settings here:
Settings > System > Sound > Sound Control Panel > Playback Tab > Select Speakers > Properties > Enhancements Tab > Tick Immediate mode > Scroll down list to Loundness Equalisation, tick > Apply > OK etc.
On the newer drivers it maybe in an UWP App or on the Sound page in Settings.
