    Annoying buzz from subwoofer?

I literally just got a new pair of klipsch desktop speakers the promedia 2.1 set and it appears that there is speaker buzz originating from the sub when the system is under load?

This is what it sounds like.

There is a possibility that this is noise being picked up from the audio cables. Try these steps for testing:

Try unplugging any audio cable going to just the subwoofer to see if the noise goes away. Make sure to completely unplug it from the subwoofer. Don't just unplug from the other end and leave a wire dangling from the subwoofer. Does the buzzing go away?

Try unplugging audio cables from the PC to the speaker system and from the speakers themselves. Does the buzzing go away?

If the problem goes away when cables are unplugged then in all likelihood the cables are picking up noise from somewhere. Some things that you can do that might help:

Try moving the cables a little bit if you can. Make sure they are not running near anything that generates a lot of noise like fluorescent lighting, other cables such as AC power cords and AC adapters, etc.

If the issue persists, you might try some higher quality cables that have decent shielding.

Also, if you speakers and PC support it, try using a digital connection rather than analog such as TOSLINK optical or Coax.

    Hope that helps!

Yeah, it definitely sounds like electrical noise.

As noted try moving the speaker connections around and away from other wiring. Also, some powered speakers will produce a hum when placed next to other powered devices or items.

Had that issue myself even with my expensive Audioengine A5+ powered speakers. Going to a digital cable such as TOSLINK might help, but it may not since the signal may be coming from the amp inside the speaker.

What helped lesson the noise was moving the speakers further away from the PC but they still sit next to the monitor so there's a little bit of noise, but not audible enough to other audio output. And there's no noise with headphones.

That said, you could try moving the speakers around.

    Good luck.

Make sure your monitor is grounded. Sounds like it might be from the backlight power supply.

You might need shielded audio cables and a shielded and noise trapped video cable to monitor

Just need to reconnect the cables, but tidy them up first!

Yeah it's kindof a rats nest with the cables, don't have too much in the options of tidying them.

I swapped it for a logitech set z313 I think. And somehow the sound is just about gone.

Eeek! I like those Klipsch speakers! Those Logitechs, TMK, will sound meh at best, compared to them!

Actually they sound decent with the realtek equalizer set to powerful. They honestly sound about the same to me, for them both being 2.1 surround speakers.

I never thought they sounded the worst, but Klipsch 2.1s usually beat them.
The Logitechs OTOH, do have good mids, too! Especially the surround ones with the center channel being used.

I had a utility-AC-frequency-creep issue as well, but I just had to reconnect the 3.5 jack-to-RCA cable.
I have very good speakers as well, got 2 Polk VT60s connected to a Technics SA-EX140 receiver.
