Old problem resurfaced - B&O cannot connect to RPC Server

I had this issue several months ago, but eventually managed to fix it. The problem is that I don't remember exactly how!!

This was the earlier thread - Bang & Olufsen cannot connect to RPC server....

Once again I have updated the BIOS, and installed the latest Realtek drivers (which were already on my laptop). My version of B&O is still 1.8.203.0. whereas it should be at least 1.9.212.0. I cannot update it via Microsoft Store.

Yesterday B&O was working without problems, so I cannot for the life of me explain what can have happened since then.

    Any assistance gratefully accepted.

I've managed to solve the problem, and will post the solution here in case someone else needs it (or in case I've forgotten when it next happens to me!).

I already had the latest Realtek drivers installed (at least according to the computer). I went to Device Manager, removed all Realtek drivers and then rebooted the computer. Don't know why, but this worked. Strangely however, I cannot update the B&O audio controller, which is still version 1.8.203.0.

In order to update the B&O Audio control app from MS store to a newer version than 1.8.203.0, you need to update the "HP Audio Hardware Support Application" INF file (either BangOlufsenAudioControlHSA.inf or BOAudioControlHSA.inf) from Device Manager (listed in the Software components section) to a newer version

the INF files may be included in the newest Realtek Software components download from MUC like v11.0.6000.833

Many thanks, erpster4. I've followed your suggestions and have downloaded the latest Realtek software components (v11.0.6000.833). I've also tried to update the B&O INF file (is this just the driver?) from Device Manager. When I go to 'HP Audio Hardware Support Application' then 'Properties' then 'Events', I can see that the latest version of the INF file requires further installation (see screenshot). How do I accomplish this?

    Further update ... and solution!!

I have finally managed to update the B&O audio control app by installing the latest Realtek drivers v11.0.6000.833, and by uninstalling/reinstalling the app via Microsoft Store. After doing this, however I noticed that the original problem ("cannot connect to RPC service") had returned. But I've also been able to solve this definitively thanks to the following website:

Realtek Audio Console can't connect to RPC service | TechPowerUp Forums

It turns out that Realtek HD Audio Universal Service must be enabled at startup; it must have become disabled somehow without my noticing it.

Hope this info can help someone else.
