I created a Live LinuxMint-20 USB and ran it on my Windows 10 computer.
It worked except...... no sound.
The Sound icon at the "system tray" shows 100%, but I got no sound playing you-tube music.
Please help.
P.S. I am an absolute beginner in Linux. I know nothing.

Boot to live Linux, start a video, then press the Ctrl, Alt and "T" keys simultaneously. When a terminal window opens, type "alsamixer", press "Enter", then look for entries with "MM" at the bottom with a number beneath it. Use the right arrow key to highlight the entry, press "M" to unmute, then use the up arrow key to raise the volume. There may be more entries to the right, but you can access them by continuing to hit the right arrow key. It's best to have something playing so that you can hear the volume come up. When you're finished, press "ESC" to exit alsamixer, then close the terminal window.

I took out an old worn-out Win 7 laptop from dusty shelf and installed LinuxMint-20 on to it. It was a clean install.
After initial install, it took very long time to run Updates to a long list of apps and software. I have no idea what they are. Names are totally foreign to me.
Then I ran you-tube music and I got sound.
Maybe one of the updates fixed that?
The last time I booted my Mint install, there were ninety updates waiting to be installed. Took about half an hour. Also, please be advised that you don't have to overwrite an existing operating system. Linux can be installed alongside it, although you may have to shrink the existing partition to make room for it.

I just recreated the Bootable Linux Mint thumb drive [16GB] using my Desktop Linux and USB Image Writer, booted it on a Dell XPS 17", sound from an old Audio CD [Sentimental Journey] played fine with Celluloid and with Rhythmbox but was a bit scratchy in the latter. I added nothing to the thumb drive, no additional drivers, just used the Linux Mint LiveDVD downloaded .iso file as the Source for creating the thumb drive.I created a Live LinuxMint-20 USB and ran it on my Windows 10 computer.
