I just recreated the Bootable Linux Mint thumb drive [16GB] using my Desktop Linux and USB Image Writer, booted it on a Dell XPS 17", sound from an old Audio CD [Sentimental Journey] played fine with Celluloid and with Rhythmbox but was a bit scratchy in the latter. I added nothing to the thumb drive, no additional drivers, just used the Linux Mint LiveDVD downloaded .iso file as the Source for creating the thumb drive.
Here is my petpee, one so far....... Firefox browser.
When I open FF, it looks like this......

Now, does that look like a browser to you? Does not to me.

(This post is done using FF in Linux platform.)

That image is a bit fuzzier than the one that comes up on native Linux Mint and Firefox home page. I don't dual-boot or VM, have dedicated computers. My screen:

I can have the Menu Bar appeared, but don't have the colored FF image.

If it was Windows, I would think that the monitor has been misdetected or the display adapter is using the wrong driver. You might try a different monitor or if it is a laptop, an external monitor.

I see that every once in awhile, haven't figured it out. I did that screenshot on 21" monitor at 1440x900 resolution.

I use the Parchment customization for the Firefox window and the Flanders theme for this site.

I can't resolve that "FireFox banner" thing.
It's not a deal breaker. I'll let it slide.
    Thanks everyone for chipping in.
I'll mark this thread as "solved".
