SRS Premium Sound Application No Longer Listed In Control Panel

    Hi,
I had the srs premium sound application on my hp compaq 6300 pro sff desktop once upon a time, there was a listing for it in my control panel now it's missing. I know that I didn't uninstall the software myself, I've looked in program files under my username and it's not listed, I haven't checked in the registry yet. Of course I would like to get that application back because it did make my sound better. Here's my system information:
System Model: HP Compaq Pro 6300 SFF, x64-based PC
    System SKU: D8C56UT#ABA
    O.S. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Version 20H2, Build 19042.610, Windows Experience Feature Pack 120.2212.31.0

At this point I'm really perplexed as to what happened to this software, I haven't tried performing a system restore to see if that would bring it back or not, I just checked in my system restore area, I have several restore point's I can choose from, I'm always kind of skeptical when I perform a system restore not knowing if I'll create additional issue's for myself. Any help will be so appreciated !

    Hello @Davy49

You may go to Settings / Apps and see if it's there.
If so, you can uninstall it and then, install latest version from here: SRS Premium Sound Download

If above solution doesn't work, take a look here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Deskto...d/td-p/7246941

    Hi HeM,
I just checked in the registry under the following key: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SRS Labs
As you can see the registry key is still showing, now I'm wondering if I would perform a system restore if it would be available once again ? I clicked on at least two different restore point's, when I clicked on the scan for affected program's it did show an entry for srs audio, but after performing a hard drive defragment operation all of my previous restore point's were gone..I found that rather strange. Now I've manually created one, something else I noticed was the allotted space for creating restore points was set @ 0%, of course I increased the space. Is my computer possessed ?

The underlying issue remains the same both computers are old and HP never even offered windows 10 drivers in the first place.

Sooner or later, the new OS feature updates will be incompatible with old drivers (and its supporting supplementary software) --- not just old drivers, but old windows 8 drivers and old windows 8 SRS sound app.

You have to decide whether to kill yourself over by spending hours and hours resetting, restoring, reinstalling the entire OS when chances are slim that you will get the thing back at the end of the tunnel.

    Hi,
Thanks to everyone that offered me help with my issue, I guess sandyt summed it up pretty well by stating what she did. I know I probably should just decide to breakdown & buy a new computer, but as I'm retired & getting older I have to prioritize what I spend money for. While I'm in pretty decent shape financially, having everything paid for (thanks to my wife of 49+ year's), I guess buying a brand new computer isn't a necessity at this point in time. I don't think that sandyt was trying to be rude, just honest.

    You're very welcome!

Absolutely wrong! Your PC is brand new, comparing to 12 years old mine which works perfectly good. And if a few old apps wouldn't work, there should be new ones which will work fine. Don't give up...

Also, do not trust System Restore. You often have to create a backup of your system, easily and fast, using a backup app. Most users here use free Macrium Reflect and by that way your PC should always be healthy and fine running.

Davy49's computer still has sound --- it just doesn't sound "as nice" without SRS.

Leave well enough alone. There is a real possibility any mucking around and he will end up with no sound at all.

You probably lost it when you upgraded to Windows 10 which will remove programs it deems incompatable. It removed my graphics software which took me awhile to get working again . If you can find the actual SRS install file you could try and reinstall it say in Windows 7 or XP compatability mode and see what happens . I had to do that on a 15 year old scanner and a 10 year old TV card and it worked like it was made for Windows 10 . Havent had a single problem with them since I did that . The TV card looks amazing too , better than it ever did on win 7 .
