How to Disable Windows Sonic for Headphones?

Now, if I don't want spacial audio, that's easy.

The issue is that I DO want spacial audio. I just want to be able to use DTS and NOT Windows Sonic. For some stupid reason though Windows randomly chooses to override my selection, and set it to Windows Sonic. Which I don't care for at all.

Google searches did little other than net threads with complete idiots responding and saying to uninstall their preferred spacial audio software, that it was a bug with their preferred spacial audio software, or advising to disable spacial audio completely.
None of which comes even close to being a solution for the issue.

This thread is seeking an actual answer. Either through settings, manually editing the registry, or finding some way to tell Microsoft to **** off that doesn't include switching to Linux and will actually result in a successful change.

My motherboard has a built-in DAC and DTS support, and I'd much rather use it than Windows crappy default.

(And in case it matters to anyone, I'm running Win 10 Pro 2004 build 19041.572)

Right click loudspeaker icon on Taskbar > Spatial Sound > tick Off(Windows Sonic for Headphones).

Go to the DTS control panel > Surround On/Off.

Don't like either version myself, each to their own.

On mine the 2004 update changed the DTS to defaults, which I did not want.

So I guess there is no real answer atm. I know very well how to change it back to what I want it to be. I'm just trying to figure out how I can stop having to do this on a regular basis.

I have mine disabled without it reverting back. I did it through the Windows Sound Panel.
Go to the Playback tab, select the headphones, Properties, Spatial Sound tab, and set it to Off.
I did it for the speakers too.

I don't have any DTS chip in the old laptop so I used HeSuVi, Equalizer APO and Hi-Fi Cable to set my headphones in surround mode (it can be turned off if you prefer stereo). It works great with my wired Sennheiser as well as with a new Sony set in Bluetooth mode.
Dolby, DTS, Atmos and a big number of simulated surround technologies are just a click away in the HeSuVi interface.

Again, the issue is that I want to use DTS. Every time I restart the computer, or some other random event happens, Windows decides to take it off of DTS and switch it to Windows Sonic.

I want to either remove Windows Sonic as an option, or find a way to make Windows STOP choosing it over DTS.
