New laptop google meets mic just stops working at random?

So i bought my wife a new laptop for her birthday. She's a teacher and has to teach virtually atm cause, things. It was her birthday and the school provided ~5yr old chromebook was making something stressful, even moreso.

First day she tries to use it, her students cant hear her the majority of the time. It works then it stops working and they can hear nothing. Its like the mic auto mutes itself or something at seemingly random.

Ive done all i can think to do. Voice recorder and other apps get the voice loud n clear. However google meets just seems to not want to pic up the mic the majority of the time.

Anyone seen anything like this? Any ideas what i can do to narrow down whats going on? She's using it as we speka so i cnt get the exact model but its a Dell w/ a 10th gen intel, inspiron 7000 series or something.

Maybe the mic is set too loud, it clipped and the backend tries to bring the volume down.

In the mean time, your wife can work on the new laptop for the off-screen stuff and use the school provided chromebook for the on-screen stuff.

yea thats kinda what we're doing (using both atm) its just discouraging to spend no small sum of money and having this issue day 1. its not being clipped, it just decides when to no longer transmit audio at all. wont transmit screen shares even at that point.

I "believe" i tracked it down to the waves maxxaudio garbage that they install with it and the "audio" enhancements it applies.

Will have to watch, wait and see. if it continues to consistently work after disabling that from runnign at startup, then win. will have to findo ut how to remove it. Its tied into the audio driver somehow as when i uninstalled it, it simply reappeared a few minutes later. (UAD app)

    thanks for the post

Be careful about disabling waves maxxaudio, mic won't work without it.
