Waves Maxx Audio - Reliability Monitor showing crashes on Dell laptop

    Hello all,

I recently formatted and installed Windows 10 Pro version 2004 on my Dell Vostro 5590 laptop. All is running perfectly except for one recurring issue which is only noticeable by checking the Reliability Monitor - See below for the details:

Faulting Application Path: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\wavesapo8de.inf_amd64_bb48ea8c326b06ff\WavesSysSvc64. exeProblem signature

    Bucket ID: cbeac208842c0ef94a13999a9f54e568 (1879014358920783208)

This gets logged once or twice a day at seemingly random times by the Reliability monitor. As such my reliability graph is pretty much abysmal. Any ideas on troubleshooting this? Sound seems to work fine. There are no issues in the Device Manager, all the laptop drivers seem to be installed ok. I ran Dell's own update tool and it says my drivers are up to date.

Under Device manager my laptop reports the following under Sound, Video and Game Controllers:
Realtek Audio Driver is 6.0.8984.1 dated 07/07/2020.
    Intel Smart Sound Technology 10.25.0.3950
    Intel Display Audio 10.27.0.9

    Thanks!

    WavesSysSvc64.exe
What you should know about WavesSysSvc64.exe (WavesSysSvc service Application)

I do not have this on my PC - as that says, it's from a 3rd party source.

    If you go here:
    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\wavesapo8de.inf_amd64_bb48ea8c326b06ff\WavesSysSvc64. exe

& rt click on that file and inspect Properties, Details tab - who produced it?

    Do you have this?
    MaxxAudioPro audio management suite

Else it's likely it's part of the Realtek driver.

This Dell laptop came pre-installed with Maxx Audio and after a format and re-install, it went and installed it as part of the Audio Drivers I think. I did not specifically go into the MS Store and download it. It might be part of the Realtek Driver but I can open the Max Audio Application and play a test sound. Seems it is mainly for listening with headphones. Laptop sound and microphone works fine. I would not know anything was wrong except for checking Reliability Monitor.

    Thank you for your reply.

Your laptop seems recent. Driver page

Check your Maxx driver vs this- if out of date, update it.

Else if you don't need it and wish to eliminate the reports, uninstall it.

Waves MaxxAudio requires the Dell provided Realtek driver specific to your PC to operate or operate properly. Also Waves MaxxAudio downloaded from the Dell downloads for your specific PC. Do not use other download sources for these files as Dell customizes the drivers for specific hardware.

Audio jack detection also requires the Waves MaxxAudio. In most cases (all that I've seen reported on the Dell forums) if its not installed there will be no jack detection.

Thanks for this - I will check. The Waves Maxx Audio App I have is (I think) the correct one and it has the same version number as above here so then maybe it is the Realtek driver that was downloaded by Windows as a 'generic' and I need to download the Dell version. Will do this a bit later and report back.

You need to disable Windows Update driver installing.

and how exactly should GregH do that, RJARRRPCGP?
it would be better if you give him a link or site that shows how to disable driver updates

I dunno, but starting with 2004, should be in Windows Update settings.

I have to admit that because I used DDU on my second Ryzen system, which has 2004, I can't tell exactly where the option is.

    Tutorial section:
Hide or Show Windows Updates in Windows 10

or you could use e.g. Windows Update Manager to scan for and hide an update (free).
Another such tool is given in option 7 of the tutorial for disabling automatic updates.
