Audio pops and tears on Youtube and any type of video streaming site.
I must say that I've looked into this problem for quite a long time now. Here are some of my observations.
Upgraded HDD to SSD, thinking it was the dying HDD that was the cause of the problem but that did not help.
Discovered LatencyMon and gave that a shot. As long as I'm not doing anything related to youtube or any heavy websites, it stays in the green for all 4 dials. Whilst listening to music on groove and typing this post, latencymon is all green. I now proceed to open a new tab and open Youtube and BAAM, latencymon is now all red and the audio just popped. I play a video and 2 of the dials go off the chart.
It gives these 2 .sys files which I presume are the culprit to the pops.
Another thing I did is connecting the laptop via ethernet and when I do that, latencymon stays in the green even when I go on youtube and play a video at 1080p, which it would normally not play without popping every 5 seconds. Offline videos also work, no pops or tears. It seems to only happen when I'm connected to the internet though wifi and streaming or loading a heavy website.
My guess is that my wifi card(Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030) is just too old and might be running on legacy drivers for all I know.
My question is whether there is anything I could do to fix it OR do I need a new wifi card, something like an Intel 7260HMW?
If anyone could help me with this I'd be really grateful to them. 😄
