Can a ProSound mike be used to dictate to Word directly ?

I've used Dragon to dictate to Word for years but as it packed up recently and not being interested in Cortana and the rest, can I use my excellent ProSound mike to dictate to Word or say Notepad directly instead ?
    Thanks

There is Dictation (win key + H) and then there's Speech Recognition which has been in Windows for years.

What packed up? Dragon NS is still around..

It's Dragon Naturally speaking 13 that had been working fine but somewhere along the line everything got stuck in the User/Admin panel and permissions box so couldn't continue, which was a a real nuisance as it had been working fine. I tried getting rid of all the accounts I'd created and starting again from the beginning but it still didn't work. Basically it just got too complicated and being a non techie gave up, though I've still got the disk.
The dictation option sounds ideal thanks....
