    Realtek Driver Not Migrated, Headphones Not Registering

    Hi guys,

    I hope you can help me out! I've been having this issue since the Windows 10 2004 update where my headphones only play audio if plugged in when my computer starts up. If I pull my headphones out and re-insert them, the sound plays through my speaker instead of my headphones.

    I went to my Device Manager to look at my speaker driver, and it says "Driver not Migrated". I went to driver details, and it says "No driver files are required or have been loaded to this device." Here's a more detailed event for the driver:
    "Device SWD\MMDEVAPI\{0.0.0.00000000}.{5707465d-b048-44ad-9533-7a687654d2ff} was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

    Last Device Instance Id: SWD\MMDEVAPI\{0.0.0.00000000}.{5efd5f83-04c2-46ae-8fdf-ade4e5f5747d}
    Class Guid: {c166523c-fe0c-4a94-a586-f1a80cfbbf3e}
    Location Path:
    Migration Rank: 0xF00000000000F120
    Present: false
    Status: 0xC0000719"

    My computer is a Dell Inspiron 15-3567, Windows 10 2004.

    I have no idea what any of these messages mean, can someone help me please?

    Hello grafki15,

    Welcome to TenForums!

    Have you tried this? . . .

    Change Default Audio Device . . .

    [1] Open Settings.
    [2] Goto System --> Sound.
    [3] Under Sound, click the Choose your output device drop down menu [ right-hand side ].
    [4] Select the required output device from the drop down list.
    [5] You might need to restart the App [ like audio players ] for the change to be implemented.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Paul,

    Thank you for the reply! However, when I go to settings -> sound -> output devices, I only have one option of Speakers/ Headphones. I think it's an issue with the Realtek driver itself, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

    Have the drivers been updated recently via WU?
    If so, you could goto Device Manager and try rolling the driver back!

    I hope this helps!

    I would go a step further in Device Manager, and uninstall the device.

    Reboot, and let Windows detect it.

    Okay, thank you both for the advice. I uninstalled the driver, but nothing changed. I then rolled back my whole Windows Update, so the driver works now. Thank you!
