@dalchina yeah that's the old Conexant version HP support since moved from that to Realtek, have been in contact with them and they said not sure it should be available maybe the B&O junk is still blocking that section, but i have removed that app, it a app now verses hard coded in the software like it was. so its removable but makes no difference . i have a post at HP forums nobody has a clue there as well they all say the issue was fixed with removal of Conexant drivers. but yeah its not lol.

Seems it's an HP/B&O issue you may have to live with.

You could have a look at post #24 and see if that offers a workaround:
    Sound quality

I saw this on Microsoft.com support - That may help resolve the issue
Permissions when trying to access advanced sound settings
Look for fix permissions - see if that helps

As a side note are you using any third party antivirus/firewall that maybe not allowing access

Have you tried post #13- that uses a freeware program.

Otherwise we have to give up I think.

i have something similar to peace boom 3d its a equalizer , i just enabled it to see i usually only use it for headphones, but still can't change that setting, it dose sound better though lol. yeah i think its a give up sort of thing on that note, unless i pick up a modded driver over at tech power up forums, and do a way with the laptop stuff all together, i don't much like modding stuff though as you never can tell what works and what does not.

2021 APR 13 -- Asus Vivo Book X512DA -- Exactly the same symptoms. Also "Realtek". Never seen those symptoms before anywhere. That is my friend's laptop.

By accident found the next, even weirder "thing": I connected to that laptop remotely (using AnyDesk). He complained the "Chrome" extension "EAR" (equalizer) produced distorted sound. When I connected the sound was just fine. Although we still could not change the Sound Settings. When I eventually disconnected the sound was distorted again. Huh?

This is analog sound, using the headphone jack. Same symptoms using the speakers or headphones regardless. When he connects the DAC to the USB port all is fine, which is to be expected as "Realtek" is completely bypassed.

    Any idea anyone?
