No sound on Windows 10 gaming laptop

On an HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC. I get absolutely no sound from anything. The sound properties insists otherwise. It shows volume levels and indicating that it has sound but there is no sound coming from the speakers.

If I plug in headphones or external speakers, I still have no sound. No sound plays from external sources either. The system believes that I have sound but I do not.

I ran a sound troubleshooter that always results in "Troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem"

I tried the steps from here but her problem is different as she has sound through external sources. I however, do not. These steps DID NOT work for me: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebo...S/td-p/6408003

Does anybody know what else I can do to fix this?

If you have recently upgraded to Windows 10 2004, there are known issues with certain sound cards.

If uninstalling the sound card and its drivers in Device Manager and rebooting doesn't/didn't solve it, I would do a repair install using an in-place upgrade -
