Can I apply an Equalizer to the out put of my PC?

I have a hearing problem in that I don't hear the high frequencies. Are there free programs that I can download that would apply an equalizer to the output of my Windows 10 (latest version) computer? Thank you.

First, some players have an equaliser build in e.g. VLC player. But that doesn't help when using e.g. a browser.

Second, some speakers - if you use them- have tone controls.

Third, some PCs have a version of e.g. the Realtek driver that still includes an equaliser. (Many don't).

Fourth, one of the better known equalisers is the APO equaliser with a separate GUI program to make it easier to use.

    Download and install that.

    Then also this

    Where do go from here?

OK, thank you. I downloaded both programs. On my Desktop is: EQ APO-GUI. When I click on that icon, nothing happens. Where do I go from here to use these two programs? I would like to set this up so that the equalizer is always invoked when I use my computer. Thank you.

    Have you installed them?

My start menu (I use Open Shell, not Win 10's) shows these entries:

(Folder on left, shortcuts on right).

In Settings, you should see this, corresponding to one of them:

I don't recall how I set them to start automatically. Like everyone, have a look at the info on the program.

    Oh, there are these:

Worth checking to see if you already have this Realtek Driver, or others that might be interested, where it will show up here starting with the Control Panel > Sound > Speakers / Headphones Properties > Enhancements > Equalizer > Graphic EQ

I would recommend that you take a look at the Peace Equaliser, Open Source, totally free, and designed to provide a front end for the APO equaliser on Windows, it has access to a good range of presets to suit different musical needs and can auto load a preset for each specific player automatically

    Normally you would run;

    "C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\Editor.exe"

Then put a tick in "instant mode" checkbox. Then exit. no other configuration required.

    Then you'd run:

    "C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\config\Peace.exe"

    To configure the EQ.

Originally, the APO Equaliser did not have a Graphic front end at all, you had to edit text files to set parameters. The peace Equaliser was the best of a number of 3rd party GUI options developed, recently the original team has added their own basic GUI to make things easier for first time users, but Peace is still the better more evolved option ( just my opinion )

It also includes more than one skin to make the Equaliser fit in better with the users windows theme
