    Monitor and speakers

Hi guys I'm new here and i hope someone can help me out with my problem.

I have recent bought a new monitor that have a audio jack and is connected with HDMI. Strangely when my speaker is connected to my PC there is no sounds, i tried trouble shooting or reinstalling audio driver it just doesn't work, but if i connect it directly to my monitor it does work. Anyone encountered this problem and manager to fix it? I'm using realtek for my audio driver. And also if i keep it this way and connect a second monitor that doesn't have inbuilt speaker using DP cable. Will there be any sound?

When you connect any pc with a hdmi monitor that has built-in speakers via hdmi cable, the pc will pass audio through the hdmi cable to the monitor. It is the Intel display audio driver or the nvidia audio driver that is doing the job. Realtek audio drivers have nothing to do with it.

When you plug computer speakers to the back of the pc's 3.5mm audio speaker port, you have to set your default speakers to realtek.

Thank you very much for all your response! Appreciate it.

So there's no way other then connecting directly to the monitor ya??

If i have a second monitor, will there be another sound? Since the speaker is connected to the first monitor and not the PC

Have you tried plugging the speakers into the back of your pc and then set the realtek audio as DEFAULT.

Unplug your new monitor and plug your old monitor back and then plug in your speakers to your pc, then troubleshoot from that.

I tried, the issue is that the HDMI takes priority over the 3.5mm jack in audio. I tried uninstalling nvidia sound driver but it still doesn't work. I'm lost
