Please help with Audio Driver & Software.

Please, please, please. I just asked 3x so you know I'm dead serious. I need this software extremely badly but I can't find a copy of it anywhere. I've literally looked for days. The software is required to fully operate the audio chip that is located on my motherboard. By the way, I also need the most recent audio codec for this audio chip too which I can't find!I purposely purchased my motherboard, the Z370 Aorus Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0) because I read that the audio chip on the motherboard actually sounded better than a dedicated sound card. I bought it on this hype because some owners actually confirmed that's this was true but ONLY IF you can get it to work. Then, is sounds amazing. The problem is that the driver and sound manager software are nowhere to be found. I bought this motherboard about 3 years ago. At that time, I think I spent about 2 weeks trying to get it to work. You know the deal. You start spending hours...that turn into days...that turn into weeks. I finally had to say "Basta!" (That's Italian for enough. I don't even know Italian but it hurt so much, the word just came out.)*********************************************************************************************** ***For the past 3 years, I've been listening to audio poo poo. I've finally decided that I'm going to fix this audio problem or die trying. What I need to find:1. Realtek® ALC1220 most recent driver and past drivers.2. A sound manager called Sound BlasterX 720°. 3. How to install the driver and software. Supposedly, there is a particular order that makes it work. I believe (but not sure) that the order is: you have to install an older driver, then install SoundBlasterX and then the most recent audio driver.

1. Go into device manager and right click the problem device

2. In the context menu that appears select properties

3. Select the details box and click device description and the in the the drop down list select device instance path

4. you then should see something like this PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_C821&SUBSYS_C02417AA&REV_00\4&1FF4A69A&0&0013

5.You want to right click PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_C821&SUBSYS_C02417AA&REV_00\4&1FF4A69A&0&0013 and choose copy.

You wil then want to paste PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_C821&SUBSYS_C02417AA&REV_00\4&1FF4A69A&0&0013 into a google search or to this post and then we can take it from there.

What is happening is that the audio chip on the mother board doesn't work very well. I think Realtek screwed the pooch when they made the drivers. They also created a Software called Creative Sound BlasterX 720 that is supposed to use the chip to create sounds that sound like an awesome sound card. There is a lot of people on the internet, upset because they can't figure out how to install the driver and software. They can't even find the appropriate drivers. Supposedly, there is a particular order to how they are supposed to be installed. I don't know what the order is because I don't have the same drivers that others have. Ok, enough of the boring monologue. This is the value that was in regedit:

I tried looking it up in google but nothing really came up. Oh, by the way, these are my current symptoms. The software doesn't work at all. It says that it can't find any audio devices connected even though sound is working. My microphone won't stop operating. It's constantly on. I don't think it's recording anything but if I tap on it, my speakers will repeat the tap. If I disable it in Windows, it will stay on. In fact, if I disable the speakers as well, the speakers will still work. I just tried to disable all the audio drivers in Device Manager under "Sound, video and game controller" and my speakers and microphone still works. Never seen that before!

Any advice? I'm assuming that I have to uninstall the audio drivers and reinstall them. It's weird that they still work when they are supposedly disabled. Maybe it's a ghost.

CerebralFreeze, make sure program compatibility is set to automatic and running first. Then you can download the latest driver the manufacturer of your system has and set the downloaded driver to for example vista all though your running windows 10.

Example, I have a Dell optiplex 755 running windows 10 home which windows 10 doesn't support some of the drivers. Well Dell has the the latest driver for my Dell optiplex 755 for windows vista and since I'm running 64 bit so I download the windows vista driver and set the compatibility to to windows vista before I install it and I'm good to go.

Also read the readme section in the folder of the driver because sometimes it shows you that the driver downloaded for vista is also campatiple for windows 7. In that case I'd set the compatibility to windows 7.

Both of these drivers are zipped so you'd need to download which driver you need the create a folder on your c directory called drivers. Then you would right click the zip file and extract the contents to the drivers folder you created on your c directory. Then you'd want to go into the folder extracted to to your driver's folder and find the setup file and execute the file and follow the prompts

The microphone part can be taken care of by going into settings (not the legacy control panel) clicking on privacy and scrolling down until you see microphone and turning the toggle switch from blue to greyed out

Hi, Ben,

That was the first website I tried, of course. It doesn't work. It will allow sound to work but the creative sound features don't work. Says that they are not connected to the audio device.
