Speakers L+R reversed after Windows update to v. 2004?

I updated to Windows 10 Pro v.2004 OS Build 19041.264 on May 28 and I now notice that the left and right speaker channels have been reversed. I'm using a laptop and the speakers are desktop type, connected to the audio jack on the laptop. The only solution that I could think of was to physically swap the two speakers as I couldn't find any setting to swap the channels.

Hi, interesting possible bug.. which audio driver are you using, and which version? (E.g. Conexant, Realtek etc).

I'm not aware of any means Windows provides to swap channels. However, this free program, which is better know as an equaliser, does (at least on build 1903 which I'm using).

    APO or PC Equaliser. (Google).
Comes in 2 parts- the basic equaliser, and a more user friendly GUI.

    Hi there

You must have got the update designed for those on the South side of the equator !!!!! - The one designed for Australia perhaps !!

I don't think Windows itself can swap the channels -- although knowing Ms's propensity to hose things up - it wouldn't surprise me.

Just get an adapter if you don't have separate L/R speaker channel inputs and swap the channels.

    Cheers

I'm using a Realtek driver. Other than the inconvenience of swapping the speakers (and having some trouble with one of the cables which is rather short), I'll live with it. I wouldn't want to add any other program for this unless it's only used to change the configuration and after that it can be uninstalled.

    Hi there
Some media players give ability to "Swap channels" -- could be a temporary solution

VLC can swap left and right channels via the mixer for example. (go to stereo mode).

If you are using the HDMI connector to an external screen to play audio there's no way Windows can hose that up !! though.

Thank you. I could use it temporarily as you suggest although it won't help me when listening through my browser.

Strange. I tested with a test CD on my Asus laptop with Realtek sound. And left and right where switched.
Tested with an external USB soundcard (Behringer) and then the channels where right.

You realize that it doesn't really matter which channel is which, right?
I mean, it's not like the right channel sounds can't come out of the left speaker, or visa versa.

And should L-R be from the perspective of the stage/studio or audience/listener anyway?
