And should L-R be from the perspective of the stage/studio or audience/listener anyway?
I set my speakers so that left and right is from my perspective (listener).

    Hi there
sometimes it's just a question of the mains connection -- if the 2 pin mains plug can go either way round.

The correct way to set speakers up for phasing is to put them together (if you use 5 or whatever - just the main ones) and compare bass with the speaker (electrical) connections the other way around. If the speakers are in correct phase the bass should be much louder.

    Cheers

Some "useless" comments. I've seen reports of this happening before so you are not the only one. I don't recall seeing any fixes, but the ones I saw were not caused by a Windows update.

Since you recently upgraded to 2004, you should have the option to fall back to the older OS. For testing give that a try and see if the speaker L/R comes back properly or if it remains reversed. Could have been reversed and you didn't notice it, in that case it isn't 2004 that caused the problem.
