    volume control keys

    HI Folks

i recently put a new SSD in my Asus N55SF and put Winows 10 Home on it. i have done all the updates and running 1909.
However there are some volume control keys on left of the keyboard and i cant get them to work. Has anyone else come across this and know how to fix it?

    many thanks

Hi, assuming you clean installed Win 10 (did you- or did you clone or otherwise transfer your previous O/S to the SSD?) then you may need an ASUS utility to support those keys.

Have a look at the driver page for your PC.

Otherwise there are various ways of arranging volume control by keyboard or by using the scroll wheel or both.

Try holding the Fn (Function) key and then the f# key for volume up and down.

From the link I provided, you need (it seems) an ATK driver from ASUS. Most likely it will be for an older O/S so may have to be installed in compatibility mode. Will it work? Don't know.

Do you have the original driver CD?

Have you [as dalchina suggested] checked the Asus drivers/downloads page for your model to find the latest keyboard utility they provide?

Such dedicated keys are always only controllable using a utility from the computer maker so that really is your only chance of success.

On one very old Dell computer that I updated to Windows 10, I used the keyboard utility {"Dell QuickSet"} that they had released for WinXP in 2008 and found that it controlled the keys correctly even in WIndows 10.

Here's the Win 10 version - whether it's applicable to an old device is another matter.

Get the drivers from the PC vendor.
