Mackie Onyx USB interface (But general Interface question)

Hi all, just purchased a Mackie 2:2 Onyx USB interface to use a condensor Mic for some recording.

Using a LogiCapture software with HD webcam, and the recordings were distorted on my laptop. All levels fine etc. So I tried Desktop, which is an old Bootcamped Mac (Late 2012 model). Same result, recordings a bit distorted on playback.

So, I tried it on Mac side (the same machine, just booted in to Catalina). Exactly the same connections, levels, LogiCapture software on Mac side (using same hardware) is perfect recording and playback. The recording I made on the Windows side plays back distorted through the Mac side, so it's not an output thing.

What can I do to try and get the same results in Windows? Any ideas?

I have a recording studio (using Cakewalk by Bandlab (Sonar) and MOTU 4pre).

I know nothing about LogiCapture, but the Windows version setup is probably the issue since it works OK with the MAC.
It sounds like the recording level is set too high in LogiCapture (it has an option?).

As far as the Onyx unit, set the input level for about -10 db and see if that makes a difference. -10 is usually what level I record at (and 24 bit) and then increase volume level if needed in my recording program (after recording). The 24bit is just for use inside the recording program and when its mixed down and mastered its a 16 bit 44.1Khz red book standard wav file.

Hi, Yes LogiCapture has an input that I've set the same (max) on both Windows and Mac, with the USB Interface set at exactly the same on both times.

I've tried all sorts of input levels, and Windows always distorts, whether on laptop or desktop!

Have you tried another recording program on Windows, such as the free Audacity to see if the recorded audio distorts on another program?
