    Sonos + TV + Windows 10

    I have Sonos PlayBase and 2x Sonos Ones for 5.1 audio. I have HDMI connecting from the PC to TV, and Sonos connects to the TV via optical. This is an Intel NUC PC I use for HTPC. Using LibreElec and audio pass-through settings, sound works great. I was going to switch back to Windows, but I can't get sound to work at all. Seems like I have tried a lot. Any ideas? Thanks much in advance.

    Hi there
    @mystik

    I'm not sure if you have to use HTPC -- is there a Sonos app to directly feed audio from wherever via the Internet to the speakers -- you could use a smartphone possibly as the handset for the app on the TV.

    I use BOSE speakers -- I then have the BOSE app on the smart phone which then can route via WIFI (usually better by far than Blu tooth for high quality audio) Audio from my NAS server to the speakers. Personally I think with this type of gear if you can avoid using Windows at all other than just for serving the audio files then you are fine. (The Bose speakers can operate on Wifi / blu tooth / AUX -including OPT).

    (Note for streaming VIDEO to a TV --that's another issue but for just Audio I can't believe an expensive system like SONOS doesn't have something similar for audio that BOSE has).

    Cheers

    Yes, for audio, you can stream from the Sonos app, which is what I do. This was indeed about video. I got it sorted in the meantime since I posted here, though. I think it was because Windows was not activated. I messed up my license because I didn't do it right after installing again (with the system now having less RAM). So then I bought a license online, and tried to use it (for a different edition), which didn't work either. So, I setup new with the correct edition for the new license, and all is now fine.
