Laptop not splitting headset mic & audio?

    Hi
Simple version. When i plug in my headset to my laptop windows10 is not splitting it into one output and one input.

I fixed this years back by setting the popup box 'whats plugged in' from headphone to headset. Then it split the audio and mic. However i had to reinstall windows and now when i select headset it just mutes my laptop mic and audio manager just shows the one mic, but two audio outputs.

It was working before the reset and i have tested the headset on another computer and it is working find.
So far i tried device manage audio driver install, for both Realtek driver and High Definition driver but either resolve the issue.

Any suggestions why windows would pick up one and not the other?

I currently have it set to headphone plugged in so that i can use my laptop mic, but ive been told i sound really bad

    Cheers,
    Zola

Jack socket, it worked previously so it is the Dual pin one.
Im using HyperX Cloud Revolver ( non-s version which i believe is just surround sound)

Hmm.... from the model you post aren't you supposed to be using a driver with those? Also, don't you need the mike cord? 5:30 into the video....

The cord is a splitter. So single headset jack -> cord -> green and pink connectors for a PC. (which is how its connected to the PC)
I tried the cord to my laptop with mic only, but it still picks it up as a headphone -.- ha
Is there another audio software i could try? Current one is a black popup box in the bottom right and its not something ive seen in the past. Previously there was no popup it just picked up an extra speaker and mic, which i had set to default over my laptops. so it just auto swapped on plug in.

I have no idea as I don't use mic'd headphones. BTW I was talking about any drivers that came with the headphones. If non did or aren't needed, don't worry about it.

And that popup box is Windows asking you what headphone are you using - Headphones or I assume the next would be Mic. If so, have you tried Mic or whatever the other option is???

Also, failing the above, have you checked the Sound panel via control Panel. Control panel > Sound. Click the "Recording" tab and making sure the correct Microphone is being used/set as default?

There isn't really any software for them. The offical website has one, but as far as i can tell its just for RGB, which i dont have.
The black dropdown box only has Headphones and Headset. Previously selecting headset worked, but i dont know why its not now.

And in "Recording" no new microphone shows up when i plug the headset in. This is the issue main issue im having. Any idea how to tell windows that is a microphone :s

Regarding the software/drivers for the headphones... again, if there are none don't worry about it. I only asked to see if there were any. There aren't so that's a check box to check off.

As for the headphones themselves Windows should recognize them as headphone/mic combo, but it could be a sound card driver issue. BTW most laptops have a soundcard panel. Did you check the one on your laptop (that's what you list as your PC)? You might look to the Control Panel for something like smart audio or something audio.

Just the one socket on the laptop. 1 headphone/microphone combo socket.
PC i was referring to is a desktop computer, which has two separate sockets for them, one green one pink. Which works fine, so i believe that crosses the faulty headset box off.
Been looking all over the audio setting boxes for one that mistakenly says Headphone, hoping to change it to Headset haha. guessing maynot be that simple

I don't have any further suggestions, but I do suggest you make clear what system in the future as this makes a huge difference as desktops are different from laptop builds hardware wise.

Anyway good luck and hope you find a solution.
