    Realtek Audio Driver extremely buggy

    Hey all!

I built a new pc yesterday containing a Gigabyte Aorus B450 Elite, R7 2700X, and a 16gbs of Ram. After installing Windows, I began installing all drivers like Chipset, Audio, Networking etc. However, after installing the Realtek audio drivers from the Gigabyte Driver page, the audio would not work, from both front and rear panel. If I uninstalled the Realtek audio drivers and used the windows drivers, my audio and mic worked flawlessly... Is the Realtek audio drivers necessary? and why are they so extremely buggy?

    Thanks!

If you feel the system works better without the Realtek drivers don't use them. That said, my experience is totally different and I've also got a Gigabyte motherboard with the Realtek drivers installed. See system specs.

BTW which drivers did you try - [6.0.1.8597] or the HD [8454_PG466] drivers?

I did try both actually, and both just seemed to not work... I guess I will stick with windows drivers. Is there any disadvantage to using windows drivers?

If it doesn't work, send the parts back.

You are living in the Windows 10 forced updates world, not getting the OEM drivers to work out of the gate will cause you problems every 6 months whenever there is a feature update.

Loss of any soundcard features included with the drivers for that particular board. I can't tell you what they are cause I don't have that motherboard and soundcard, but.... it could be something like this....

    Realtek Audio Driver extremely buggy-capture.jpg

That from the Realtek driver for my Gigabyte board. Anyway I'm sure someone will suggest you try this or that, but I can't speak any third party suggestions since I use a USB DAC and my JRiver as my media player.

    Good luck.

I mean I really have no need for an equalizer or audio enhancements... So I guess I'll just keep it how it is for now? lol

    Thanks!

is this your Gigabyte motherboard, randycool279?

latest Realtek audio driver listed for that board is 6.0.8688.1 but Gigabyte has a 6.0.8854.1 uad driver available but listed for newer boards.

and sometimes a new Win10 update may cause loss of audio (saw this on MS answers forum with the recent KB4551762 update for Win10 v1903/v1909 as well as from here).
what edition & version of Win10 are you using? type winver.exe in the Run dialog box to show the Win10 edition & version.
