I didn't know that. Realtek is really poor when it comes to drivers.
It's a shame since they're products are on almost every motherboard.

only the 8000 based HDA drivers before 8856 had the security problem.

older 7xxx based drivers (like 6.0.1.7016 & 6.0.1.7525) are not affected or don't have the security problem, according to Lenovo

Actually, Lenovo is wrong in that chart (i.e. ThinkServer TS150 6.0.1.7525)

    [SOLVED]

I could not get "speaker fill" (stereo sound signal coming through all of my 5.1 speakers) to work.

I tried enabling it in the "Realtek Audio Control" Windows Store app (UI Version: 1.25.245.0).

I have Realtech drivers 6.0.9102.1 on an MSI MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI MB.

Not sure why, but It finally worked when I:
    1. Made sure the device "Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)" in the "Sound" section of Windows "Control Panel" was configured to "5.1 Surround."
    2. Set the "Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)" to the "Default Device" after clicking the "Set Default" button
    3. Then, in the "Properties" > "Advanced" tab, I clicked "Restore Defaults" > "Apply."
    4. Lastly, under the "Properties" > "Advanced" tab again, I brought my "Default Format" down from "24 bit, 1920000 Hz (Studio Quality" to "16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)"

Magically IT WORKED...I could then click 'Speaker Fill" ON and OFF in the "Realtek Audio Control" Windows Store app and even bring my "Default Format" back up to "24 bit, 1920000 Hz (Studio Quality)."

if you find yourself in a similar situation, but the steps above are not working for you, try:
    1. Reconfiguring your speakers to "5.1" (the whole process, start to finish) in WIndows
    2. Make sure what is set in the "Sound" section of the Windows "Control Panel" is the same in your "Realtek Audio Control" Windows Store app (e.g., 5.1, Default Format, etc.)
    2. Play around with the "Default Format" under the "Speaker" section of the "Realtek Audio Control" Windows Store app
    3. Aside from your "Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)" device, "Disable" all other input/output "Playback" and "Recording" or sound devices
    4. Make sure your "Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)" device is set as the "Default Device."

I hope this helps someone :)

Guys this is 2021 August and I have found a realistic and good SOLUTION!

I am running Win 10 latest version and yesterday I dug out my Logitech X530 5.1 system. Decided to connect it to my PC only to find out that even though the PC recognizes the 5.1 and it can work properly with 5.1 movies or games, everything else would only work with the 2 front speakers, the rest, dead.

The FILL SPEAKERS option was not present in my sound panel and there was no option to turn on the enhancement with anything.

So after reading a lot about drivers and what not, trying a few things, without luck, I typed sound in my Win 10 start menu, and to my surprise a Microsoft Store APP came up, preinstalled it seems. SOUND BLASTER CONNECT is the name of the app.

The app detects my 5.1 speakers and I can turn on the SBX PRO STUDIO setting which basically turns on the Surround Speaker Fill option but better. Really nice sound a very useful extra settings.

If the app is not preinstalled with your Win 10, you can probably download it from the MS store.

Good luck and enjoy a nice fullFILLing 5.1 experience :)
