Seems to me that in the past, maybe XP, I could either lock the playback/recording settings or perhaps it was a 2nd party program that set them to predefined levels. I haven't seen anything for w10 that does that. I have a program that dictates specific levels for use. Any help here?

Program is WSJT-X. It produces audio for a transmitter (and also decodes audio from the receiver) so I have to have the speaker level set at 25 and the recording level set at 25 or else then I have to adjust things in the program. It's much easier to just have the w10 sound levels preset so I don't have to change things all the time. It's not a big issue, I just have to make sure when I run the program, the levels are right and sometimes I don't remember, but I soon figure it out.
I've made a shortcut on the desktop to 'sounds' so I can easily get to the recording and playback levels. That seems about all I can do for now.
Well I know nothing of the program you speak of but perhaps right clicking the Windows Speaker icon in the System tray and choosing "Open Volume mixer" may be of interest? You can't "lock" the settings there though....
Outside of that, I'm surprised you can't do what you wish from within the "WSJT-X" app itself. Anyway I've no other suggestions.

What you show above is just the output levels. When I go into 'Sounds', I get tabs with recording, playback, etc and makes it easy to adjust levels from there. The app has it's own settings but does not adjust the OS levels.
I think it was in XP that there was a 2nd party app that was maybe sort of a batch file or perhaps an exe that set the recording/playback levels in the OS. It just made it easy to set without going through a bunch of menus or drop downs.
Is there a way for your radio to use the computer's rear line-in instead of mic?
I have an Asus Xonar SE PCIe and I'm using the outputs from that card, not the internal RealTec which is pretty much a piece of junk. I just don't remember if it was a 2nd party app or not, I just was wondering if anyone was using something like this, but apparently no one here has seen it, I've searched but found nothing. I'll just continue on with either setting things if I remember or not, and figuring it out when I use the program. Like I say, it's not a big issue, I was just hoping maybe someone had seen something like what I'm looking for.
