    Speaker Icon

I use to be able to right click in the sound icon in the bottom task bar and then move the slider up or down, but now I cannot right click on this icon, checked my right click, that is OK.
Right click on a blank area of the Taskbar, Left click on Taskbar Settings scroll down to 'Notification Area'
Right click on 'Turn System icons on or off' and check that volume icon is set to 'ON' the icon is set to 'on'
    this is Win 10.

    Hi,

Try left clicking the sound icon on the taskbar. you can then adjust the sound as you described, works for me anyway....

You need to make sure the speaker icon is in the notification area - far right corner where the clock is. Right click the speaker icon and choose Open Volume mixer.

To enable or disable the speaker icon showing go Start, Settings, Personalization. In the left pane click on Taskbar. Under the taskbar heading scroll down to Notification area and click on Turn system icons on or off. Make sure the Volume button is on....

From there follow the above right click procedures.

    Let us know.

    Hi, Clock/Volume/Network are all ON,
the speaker icon is in the bottom task bar, but I cannot right click on it, I always use to, my mouse right click button is working but not on that icon, it works on every other icon in the taskbar,

Just had this reply from another source,
One of the recent W10 updates apparently disabled the Volume control on some systems.
Basically it turned off the Audio Services and 'disconnected' the Audio driver.
They have not yet offered a fix for it.

I can't say why your system is doing what it's doing but I do doubt the veracity of that rely to you. I would ask the poster to post a credible link to said update.

Outside of that I don't have any other suggestions at the moment.

    Good luck.

What do you mean "new way"?

Anyway if you want to get into the other settings it needs to be done through Control Panel, Sound....

Whilst the fault condition was there, were there other icons in the Notification area that also failed to respond to right-clicking?

If so then that matches the condition I once had on a Windows 10 computer. The condition prevailed for months and then suddenly it all worked again just like yours has now started doing.
    - I could not even explain the resolution as being caused by a Windows update because, by then, I had stopped monitoring the problem.
    - If you have just had a Windows update then it could be that it has fixed things.
    - The computer on which I had the problem is ten years old so does not get driver updates. I did reinstall the existing driver but that had no effect.
