Speaker makes 5 short clicks on boot up - What is causing this?

    Hi
My ASUS Transformer T100HA (Win 10 Home - 64bit - Version 1909 - OS Build 18363.657) makes 5 short clicks from the speakers every time I boot up the device. It didn't always do this but started a few weeks ago. Strangely it does it even if the speakers are muted.

I was having a few other performance issues so yesterday made a fresh install of the operating system after deleting the partition during setup. All my other small glitches seem to have cleared up and I have more memory available because my installation from bootable USB did not carry so much of the ASUS installed bloatware...but the clicking is still happening.

Its not that disturbing but I want to be sure it is not an issue that might develop into something bigger. Can anyone suggest what might be causing it and how I can stop it from happening.

    Many Thanks.
    D.

Hi, are you certain the noises come from the speakers (as you've muted them)? Try disconnecting them.

    Two suggestions ...

I have known an unsecured cable inside the case, contacting the fan blades of one of the system fans, and produce a clicking sound, this would be unlikely in this case as the clicks are always 5.

Also there is the standard case speaker this should not be normally described as a click as it is more of a "Beep", however these days they may be replaced by some other electronic sound so could well sound like a set of clicks.

As these Beeps/clicks are meant as a warning it may be worthwhile checking, the user guide for a code table for faults, and what is indicated by Five clicks. If you find an entry you can then physically check the component for faults

Sounds like a beep code, maybe click is the new Beep, that varies with manufacturer and BIOS/UEFI provider. That occurs very early in the Bootup.

At a guess it is a CPU problem.

That maybe due to removal of ASUS cooling policies, on the latest hardware CPU setup policy etc. Some of the ASUS supposed bloatware is actually system stuff.
