Recent VOLUME STARTS AT ZERO issue with Lenovo Laptop and BT Speaker

    Greetings All,

I have a new issue on a Lenovo laptop running the latest Windows 10 and Lenovo firmware bios drivers. The latter recently had an update and when it was done I've been finding my laptop's volume no longer where I left it.

This means I can be playing YouTube on my laptop speakers at half volume. I then turn on the Bluetooth speaker and I now hear nothing. Despite connecting. Why? The volume has been automatically reduced to ZERO. When I awake from sleep the same thing happens.

I'm posting this question because I want advice on where to start. Here? Lenovo's support? Drivers? I've looked online and haven't found this specific issue but variants of it.

(This reminded me of a similar issue I once had about a year ago. I had a different BT speaker, different laptop, and the PC would lower it's own volume automatically. Meaning if you raised it, you could watch it go right back down. My NEW issue is different in that once you raise the volume back up... it stays there. Until sleep.)

    ?

Hi I think I would try a restore point before you did the firmware bios driver.

I have kept some restore points. I'm going to try some drivers before I resort to that.

I think I read somewhere that Realtek drivers aren't so good. To use MS ones instead.

    UPDATE

So I tried the simple thing. Remove the bluetooth connection. Reconnect. Despite a YouTube being at half volume before I did this the speaker itself was set to zero.

I forget what this is called but it's that thing where the speaker and the computer volume rocker are no longer parallel. Meaning although there is a connection between the two: on might be at 50%, the other %5, and until you touch one only then both 'awake' and join forces again.

    NEW UPDATE

So, okay, I found there was an issue with the Bluetooth Pairing working properly. It's like what was once a sturdy as hell connection became dicey. I had to unpair and repair 3 times... and final pairing is now working. As if nothing had been wrong.

    Hmm...

I won't mark this as solved until some time passes.
