Plugged In / Unplugged In Device Messages Constantly

Hi there, a couple weeks ago I had an "accident" on the laptop, and initially everything was messed up, such as when I would press a certain letter it would type something else and I couldn't log in immeadiately. Everything is now functioning again, except the audio. The problem is that the audio is completely mute.

There was a red x on the Speaker icon and I pressed it and I restarted the laptop. So when I logged back in, the red x is gone, but there is a message that keeps popping up and saying:

B&O
Information
You just plugged a device from the audio jack
Realtek HD Audio Manager

And then:

B&O
Information
You just unplugged a device from the audio jack
Realtek HD Audio Manager

And it keeps going back and forth between the "plugged" messages and the "unplugged" messages. The messages in in the bottom right on a rectangular black/grey tab. Even now the messages are still popping up constantly.

I have a feeling there could be an almost simple solution to this problem. Do you think maybe either I could use headphones or attach an outside speaker to it or something?

Just so it might help matters, the laptop is a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion and of course I'm on Windows 10 using Firefox.

Has anyone had a similar or same situation happen? I am open to different suggestions and then maybe I could sort out answers and pick out which might seem like the best possible solutions.

Chances are that your accident cleanup is not 100% done and there are still some liquid residue.

So does you or anybody else think that I should unscrew the laptop and clean the residue or do you think it will slowly fade away or not?

Just so one knows, I may not come back on here for a few days until Friday. But anyway, thanks for responding so far and any other helpful suggestions are welcome as well. Later.

If you drop vodka on the computer, the alcohol and water will evaporate. If you drop coca cola on the computer, the sugar will not evaporate.

What you should do if you are not going to open up the whole laptop and clean it with isopropyl alcohol is still get some at your local wallgreens or ect. and turn off the laptop remove a battery if it has one that can be removed. then using qtips swab the inside of the audio jacks with the alcohol and then let it dry for at least 4 hours (should be pretty instant but don't take the chance). Then try the laptop and make sure the jacks work if you have some ear buds or just see if the popup is still there. It sounds like it is continually shorting as it still has residue in it. Which model pavilion is it?

Luckily ( not in a good way though ) it was just regular water. I'll look into the alcohol and qtip cleaning stuff later.

About the model pavilion, Hewlett Packard or is it a model number perhaps?

I meant the sku of the machine. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108 This will let you normally get the HP manual that shows you how to disassemble/service the PC to see if any residual water is inside waiting to corrode something. It may be easy or difficult without the proper tools. If you can get you me the sku I can point you to the right manual if your up for it. If not I still recommend the qtip to clean out the contacts of the jack.

Although I certainly hope not -- the damage may have already been done. OP posted 4 days ago. A professional cleaning and testing by a business computer place might be the best way to go. In the meantime, full image backups of C and D partitions onto external media is probably not a bad idea at all.

While water damage to a motherboard board does not normally take out hdd's or ssds I am a strong believer of When in Doubt, IMAGE IT! They should be doing that anyways regardless as data is cheap compared to Data Recovery if they needed it. Will have to see how it goes for them.
