    Asus Driver for Realtek Audio.

My ASUS PC came with the ASUS Realtek driver installed, this also installs the Realtek Console, Sonic Studio and Sonic Radar. A recent auto update to Sonic Studio took place and immediately my analogue output to the desktop speakers was dead, the digital output to my hi-fi was OK. When Sonic Studio is started up it flashes a screen then aborts. So I uninstalled the complete package and tried a fresh download from ASUS, same problem. So downloaded a driver from the Realtek site...

This driver works fine and it does not install Sonic Studio or Sonic Radar, neither of which I am interested in. However, it also does not install the Realtek Console which is a nice to have. So, can you point me at a Realtek driver which includes the console and does not install Sonic Studio/Radar?

From your description, what you need is install package from Asus, which includes everything.
and then manually install realtek driver by using:
device manager -> Search my computer for drivers and point it to realtek driver.

this will then update the driver only, "overwriting" the one from asus and leaving software alone.
ofc. if replacing driver won't work, (ie. asus driver is newer), then uninstall asus driver only in device manager first.

Thanks. I have tried every variation on that theme and cannot achieve a working combination of Realtek Console and Driver.
    One example...
    1) Downloaded latest Asus driver package which installed the Driver, Realtek Console and Sonic Studio (no Sonic Radar for unknown reason). No sound from desktop speakers.
    2) Uninstalled Sonic Studio, leaving the ASUS Driver and Console.
    3) Trying to play music via Foobar produces a message "Unknown problem".
    4) Uninstalled the ASUS Driver, leaving the Console.
    5) Installed the Driver from the Realtek site.
    6) Music now OK on desktop speakers.
    7) Invoked the Console. Got message "Not supported on this machine".
    8) Uninstalled the Console.

So am back to the basic Realtek Driver, which works.

I've now tried the advice here...

Putting Realtek Audio Console to Work – Win10.Guru

Downloaded the UAD driver and the Console from the MSoft store. Again no sound, Foobar reports "Specified module not found" and Console reports "Not supported on this machine". The generic MSoft audio driver works OK, as does the driver from the Realtek site. I initially attibuted this to an update to Sonic Studio but I'm now of the opinion that the January update to 1909 brought this on. For the time being I give up.

Do you have sound from other program?

Because chances are if you use foobar --- you are using some kind of weird kernel streaming wasabi or ASIO and forcing bitrate to 44.1 kHz. So it may be there is nothing wrong with Realtek, sonic studio and Windows 10 1909 update in the normal audio setting.

On the very first instance of encountering this problem I quickly established that Foobar was definitely not the culprit. Any and every source, including Win10 OS, fails to pass sound out of the analogue output when the problem drivers are in place.

what kind of ASUS PC are you using, Pollensa1946? is the ASUS machine a desktop computer or a laptop computer?
there are so many different kinds of Asus machines that there are MANY specific Realtek audio driver packages from Asus for many different models

you need to fill in your specs of the series or model number of your Asus computer.

    OR

run either HWInfo or Speccy to gather specs of your Asus computer

To be honest I'm holding back on this until I see some evidence of ASUS/REALTEK demonstrating a working driver. Because I discovered that these drivers when uninstalled (remember I've done multiple install/uninstall) leave behind dozens of orphan files and hundreds of redundant registry entries. I've spent 4 to 5 hours cleaning up.

Unfortunately gaming motherboards have so many audio enhancements that you will eventually end up audio problems 100% of the time. There are so many moving pieces with realtek, asus, nahimic, soundblaster... that if one of them didn't provide an update then the whole thing falls over.

It may be better to just buy a plain motherboard with no added audio enhancements and just buy Dolby Atmos from the Microsoft Store.

In some respects I understand why you take that view, but I don't completely support it. I had the PC custom built and chose the MB both for its processing power (work) and the high quality audio chipset (leisure), I don't game. The latter feature because I pipe the digital out to a DAC and on to a high quality stereo setup. While I'm working on the PC I stream music in superb quality. The desktop analogue speakers are a useful to have for general browsing, phoning, Skyping. Taking a step back from the problems and thinking on my needs I've decided for the moment that I don't need all the add-on, sound-altering, software and have uninstalled all the ASUS, Realtek, A-Volute, Nahimic, Sonic Studio and Sonic Radar crap and fallen back on the MSoft generic driver which works. I prefer to listen to music rather than battle with bad software. I've just wasted a morning deleting dozens of orphan files and cleaning the Registry.

Does the generic driver give you digital out?
