Microsoft Edge, my tests show no enhanced sound, no DD

Not in youtube, Netflix, Disney plus or Amazon videos. Just the same stereo sound as Chrome.
YET Edge propagandists say it is better sound.
Anyone care to explain this seeming incongruity?
In practical experience, it is worthless approbation.

Why are you talking about a news release from 5 years ago?

so its been 5 years and still nothing?
I suppose 5 years was not enough interest for programmers to implement the improved sound, maybe because it was only edge specific.

I can get DD in Amazon and Netflix , Amazon and Netflix using firestick, but there is no surround in any web browser for any websites.
And Disney Plus on the firestick has no surround, yet it works on the Roku.
And I have to mod an HDTV diver just to get it play surround on my Sony AV receiver.
Does this not seem highly fragmented and an unfriendly experience to you?

Why are you talking about Edge circa 2015 when Microsoft gave up their browser dream 2 years ago when they embraced chromium?

Content producers don't ask for 5.1 for a lot of smaller productions anymore because people are watching them on mobile devices and they don't have the budget for it.

Nobody buys 5.1 speakers anymore as more and more people buy soundbars. Consumers have spoken.

Truly a mean spirited bully type response from you....
Nobody, ok fine for them. As for me, I have a 5.1 setup with individual speakers. And I have been on a lot of forums looking into how Disney Plus is missing surround sound and lots of people want it. Filing your response under 'useless'

    Gave up Huh?

And dont bother responding as I wont see it, your on ignore now.

    • Home Theater System/Surround US household penetration 2012-2016 | Statista

Popularity of surround systems in Homes is pretty high at 41%, but some people will dispute that saying no one wants it anymore.

Again, you are showing a web page from 2017 (and before they announced chromium adoption).

Go to Christian Henson's YouTube channel --- he is the Poirot tv show music composer and founder of Spitfire Audio (maker of virtual musical instrument samples for movies and tv music composers). He TOOK OUT his 5.1 system during his studio rebuild because content producers WON'T pay for it.

    YouTube

(before studio rebuild --- 5.1 system, video at 12:30).

    YouTube

(after studio rebuild, took out 5.1 system --- video at 1:40).

Again how is it Microsoft's problem? This is a content provider issue, not a Microsoft issue (studios won't pay for it). This is a platform distribution issue (Google made their own video and audio codec for YouTube so that they don't have to pay for Dolby licensing fee), not a Microsoft issue. This is an end-user usage issue (more people watching on mobile devices), not a Microsoft issue.

41% market penetration --- 20 YEARS after DVD was launched in 1996/7 --- that's an absolute failure. Also they could have counted soundbar as surround sound.

Again, you are showing a 2017 video which predates Microsoft's chromium adoption announcement.

Why don't you start threads about old press releases on how Firewire is going to crush USB, or how Sony PSP is going to crush Nintendo DS, or how Blackberry is going to crush the iPhone, or how Myspace is going to crush Facebook?
