Yeah. Most newer games have normal Dolby support I think but for older games where the channels are split (for using the 3.5mm speakers) it uses Dolby Digital Live to encapsulate them so they still play as 5.1
I use this videos on this site for making sure the 5.1 is working AAC Multichannel Playback Test
And this site for checking sync Video Audio Sync Tests @ 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 50 & 59.94
I will say that my refresh rate is set to 60 and the "59.94 fps audio video sync test" is in perfect sync. The "23.98 (23.976) fps audio video sync test" looks like it's -1 but I'm sure it'd be fine if I change my refresh rate.
Yeah you'll need to download them. I just play them in the built in Windows player and they're fine.
YouTube doesn't actually support surround sound according to this Can or does youtube offer any form of surround sound? - YouTube Music Community - all those 5.1 Dolby test videos that users upload just get converted to stereo. I tried downloading one myself with y2guru and checked it in mediainfo and sure enough only channels were L and R.
I tested it and it works flawlessly. All the channels are working as intended. i am stunned and amazed ^^. Soooo happy
Thank you thank you soooo much.
Sadly it seems i can't change the volume for each speaker with my inbuild sony-home-theater configuration - tools.
But i don't mind that much right now ;-)
You can change the balance in Windows settings but it's not ideal https://i.imgur.com/mL8twYm.png
Just to test it I set 1 & 2 to zero and played on of the channel videos - this killed front L and R but everything else was fine So I assume 1-6 is L,R,C,RL,RR,SUB. The issue with doing it this way is it's OK if you move the master volume up and done, what ever the lower speaker volume is will stay as a percent of the master. If you turn the volume ALL the way down though it will reset everything so when you eventually turn the volume back up all of the channels will be equal again - muting the sound doesn't have an effect on this, if you set the front to 60 and leave the rear at 100 then muting will keep it like that. Hope that makes sense!
Thank you for the heads up. I am not too eager to fiddle with that because it works right now ^^.
Was a bit dissapointing that it doesn't seem to work with cyberpunk. I thought that might be ideal to test out with the working system. But all i get is stereo there...
Well that is only if i use Geforce Now to play the game.
When i start it locally from my pc i got awesome 5.1 sound... damn its so good... but sadly the rest of my system can't really handle the game, hence i used to play it on geforce now... but then i don't get 5.1 (why not... is beyond me)
dolby surround sound support is hit or miss, all over the place, kind of a mess.
for example, I was given a firestick for a present. worked great with Netflix and dolby 5.1 sound.
OK, but then I sign up for Disney+, and no dolby only stereo!
So searching forums and stuff I found out to get dolby 5.1 on Disney+ app on firestick you have to have a Firestick 4K!
So I get the firestick 4K and sure enough get dolby 5.1 sound on Disney+
I have no idea if all that perplexity is planned or not, it is what it is.
