I have my PC connected to my AVR via HDMI.
I went to Windows 10 Sound --> Device Properties. And I selected 5.1 as the spatial sound format.
When I play the Blu Ray, the Denon AVR says that the Sound is “Multi Channel In”, and that the signal is PCM.
Is this correct? Is this proper 5.1?
I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 GPU.
Thanks for your help and I appreciate how you uploaded the files together in 1 convenient package. I didnt follow your steps exactly but I was able to install the Dolby Home Theatre v4 and it works great, but my system is still just being recognized as a "stereo" system. I'm happy that The Dolby Home Theatre lets me control and create some nice virtualization effects, but I'm still trying get windows 10 to recognize my 5.1 system. Maybe I'm shit out of luck? or maybe I didnt follow your directions to the T.
Does Windows 10 recognizing your system as 5.1?
Here's a few notes on what I did and the issues I encountered and a few questions:
-I didnt do a fresh install of windows. Maybe I should have? Was I supposed to uninstall the Nvidia audio drivers first?
-the modded driver you're referring to, is it the "nvhda.inf" file? I'm not sure if I installed that correctly. I didn't get any error messages but I also don't remember seeing any positive messages telling me if it installed successfully or not.
-After installing the modded driver, I restarted and installed the APO drivers. It installed correctly (I think)
-I installed the Dolby home theatre but after restarting my computer I kept getting "pcee needs to be installed..." error message. I learned online that I was supposed to preinstall some kind of PCEE driver first before installing Dolby home theatre. I found the "dolby" tab and It gave me the option to turn it on and off but I was still getting the PCEE error message.
-So I tried to install everything again. I made sure to uninstall any dolby drivers and programs first. I also uninstalled any driver related to Nvidia audio.
-I installed your modded driver, I restarted and installed the APO drivers, restarted again and installed the PCEE driver for Dolby Home Theatre 4.0. and then, without restarting, I installed the Dolby Home Theatre 4.0 program. I restarted and the Dolby Home theatre program started to work with no error messages.
But I'm still stuck with no Windows 10 5.1/dolby digital output. And I know my soundbar system is capable of it because when I load apps directly off my smart TV (amazon prime, netflix, etc) my TV sound settings give me the option to select either PCM or Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital+. DD+ doesnt work but Dolby digital does work and it works fantastic. With my PC running, I only get the PCM option and all the other options are greyed out and unselectable.
Also, I should point out that neither my soundbar or TV has an eARC option. just ARC. And I'm now figuring out that the soundbar wont pass through 1080p or 1440p at 120 hzMaybe I should just return my system and get my money back... I mean it sounds great playing off my smart TV and the stereo surround sound virtualization off of windows 10 is still decent. But I need to figure out how to get video to play 120 hz cause thats a deal breaker...
You don't need a fresh install, I was just making a point about how quick I can do this now if I need to. It sounds like you're almost there tbh.
So the speakers will still show as stereo in the properties, with a max number of channels of 2. There's no way to change this but you don't need to. You said you found the "Dolby" tab so go back in there and go to the advanced tab, it's in there you want to change the default format to "Dolby Digital". If you've done everything right, that option will be there and that will be you done! In case it's not there I'll just go over it.
The key to getting that "Dolby Digital" option to show up is installing the modded driver first - because the driver is unsigned you need to turn of disable digital signature enforcement then update the driver through the device manager. The second part is the APO driver, and you've already seen that it is PCEE - I think you need to select that when you're installing the thing. Once it's installed you need to assign it to the sound device, easier to explain with this illustration.
So yeah, if it says "Dolby Digital" and you've got the Dolby Home Theatre app installed then you should be good to go. You just need to test it so you want to download a file from here AAC Multichannel Playback Test - I use "HE-AAC Channel ID - With H.264 Video". Play that in the default Windows "Photos" app and hopefully all the channels will be correct.

Regarding your other problems, I know my soundbar supports 1080p120 passthrough so not sure why yours (a newer soundbar) doesn't. Think at 1440p I can only go up to 60Hz. Also, 4K HDR passthrough doesn't work at frame rates higher than 30 - it's fine for watching a movie just no gaming at 4K60 - 1080p60 with HDR is fine tbh.
There's load of other issues as well, which I've managed to get work arounds for, just a pain in the behind. Next time I'm going full AV.

Center, Back L/R and Subwoofer are quiet. In the Speaker Setup when i run the test, all the speakers get the "sound-wave animation" , but no sound.
I tested with a movie, 5.1 mkv, very interesting: i can hear Left and Right channel, all the others are muted, for example i hear surrounding sounds but when the actors are speaking, i cannot hear their voices, as they should be heard from the center channel.
Did i miss something? Somthing i noticed in Settings - General, it still says that the Hdmi Buchse (i dont know the english word sorry) still says L R, could that be the problem? thanks for your help

Do you get the subwoofer sounds showing up? Your not hearing voices from the center speaker?? Or are you saying your not hearing voices from the rear surround speakers??
Voices of actors most always will be coming from the center speaker. The surrounds carry some effects, some music, tends to be of lower volume. On my AV receiver, I boosted the surround volume level cause I like to hear it more. I also found I am watching lots more video with Dolby surround right off the Firestick 4K versus the PC, don't get a regular firestick, it wont do dolby surround for Disney+, (if your thinking of getting one)
No only Front Left and Right are "active", all other channels are like muted. I made sure it was not an error from my surround system, when i calibrate the speakers i get a test-sound from all channels, so they are working.
Maybe something went wrong or i forgot to change when modding the .bin file or making the .inf file, i don't know. i tried 2 more times, step by step like explained in here, 2 more times the same issue.
So I don't know if my issue is similar to what you guys are describing. I've got the 3090FE, HW-Q80R soundbar, and LG CX TV. I got eARC setup on my TV and the latest firmware. The soundbar also has the latest firmware. With a clean install of Windows 10 everything audio wise works, except 5.1 doesn't send rear channel audio to my rear speakers for the soundbar. Only 7.1 has rear audio. Installing Dolby Access for use of Dolby Atmos is where things get real weird and broken. All sound modes in Windows won't produce sound except 7.1 and Atmos. Problem is 7.1 audio pops in and out constantly and Atmos will work until I open another file or play another video then it just cuts out. I've got my TV set for passthrough audio and Bitstream is selected as well. I've tried with PCM but that didn't change anything. Anyone have any ideas what's going on here?
Is there no other better EDID Editor out there? looks to me like there is a compatibility issue with AW EDID Editor. Interesting that BrainyCabde's 7.1 Rear speakers get audio but not 5.1... Speaker assignment error or something like that? Or you have to select different assignments? there's the option for rear high, rear wide, rear middle... also for front. center low, center high... there might be the issue?
Changing the EDID never worked for me. You can try the method I posted in in post #10, your speakers will still show as stereo but with Dolby Digital turned on in the advanced settings then it will play 5.1 stuff - I test using the ChID-BLITS-EBU.mp4 found here AAC Multichannel Playback Test
My setup is NVIDIA HDMI into my soundbar then video passed from soundbar to TV - this is because I don't have eARC so experience an audio delay when using DD if my PC is connected to the TV and the TV is passing audio to the soundbar.
