what tells Windows 10 ,the MIC needs to be ON in a program ?

Since upgrading from Windows 10 version 1903 to 1909 ,I now have to have my MIC on ,for my software that uses audio to work . . . but none of the software involved needs or uses a mic. They all worked perfectly for the last 4 years without the MIC on.
What file in my program software would request the MIC to be on.
Again , all the software does not use or need MIC, but Windows 10 is now telling me I now have to turn the MIC, if I don't the programs will not work now.

    If you have never needed the mic to run a program then it is not likely needed now. Follow the instructions in this Tutorial to keep it turned off;

Allow or Deny OS and Apps Access to Microphone in Windows 10

info MIC ON / OFF ,no audio

    Notnats,

I have tried the various ON / OFF's in the MIC settings ,it does nothing to help me. If I do not have the first MIC ON/ OFF , ON . . . I get no audio from the audio source I am putting in via USB LINE IN.
And none of my software that uses AUDIO will not work.
Again this never did this except since the last Window 10 upgrade, version 1903 to 1909. Now without the MIC ON ,none of the software I use that uses audio will work, as I said. And if I set the first MIC ON/ OFF ,ON then try to turn off ANY of the next two MIC ON / OFF to OFF ,none of my software that uses this audio will work ,but I still get audio out of the PC speakers. My softwate threws an error saying there is NO SOUNDCARD or SOUND CARD IN USE by other PROGRAM . . . it is not !!!
If I don't have that first MIC ON / OFF . . . ON I get no audio from my PC Speakers via LINE IN USB. ,it seems Microsoft wants my MIC ON now all the time . . . not me.
Microsoft , I question if they know what the heck they are doing . . . the following was once said about Microsoft after a top Microsoft official was critical of the auto industry years ago ,the auto industry said . . . can you imagine if every time your car stalled you had to get out and run around the car three times then jump back in and try to start it again . . . my feeling is THIS IS MICROSOFT and WINDOWS !!!

Hi, have a look at the sections on microphones here and see if that helps at all:
Microphone not working after Windows 10 Version 1909 update
    https://windows101tricks.com/no-sound-in-windows-10/

Otherwise you can downgrade to 1903 by uninstalling the 1909 enablement package e.g. in Control Panel, Programs and Features, View Installed Updates. Please feel free to try that and report the outcome.

Note: before any major change tenforums members recommend you update your disk image (e.g. Macrium Reflect - free/paid + external storage for image files). The routine use of this is strongly recommended to give you a second chance to get back to where you were should things go horribly wrong.

    dalchina,

Thank You for you input. I did revert back to version 1903 from 1909 , thanks for telling me how to do that ,but it made no difference. I still need the MIC ON with programs I never needed it on before.
What was funny but typical with Windows ,is just reverting back to version 1903 it screwed things up ,again I had to reset many audio settings to get things working again.

Do you know in software ( programs now telling me MIC is ON ) ,what file tells Windows 10 to turn the MIC ON ?

As I've said the programs that Windows is turning the MIC ON ,again don't need the MIC ON. The other thing that has happened to is just to get sound out of my PC Speakers while using LINE IN USB ,I have to have the MIC ON, otherwise I hear nothing out of my PC Speakers from the LINE IN USB source. The sound is coming from a radio.
