    Realtek Sound Effects Tab Missing

I can't seem to find the Realtek sound Effect Tab, with the reverb effects and other such things. My computer has a MEDION Motherboard and also has the newest version of Windows 10 currently available. I have deleted all of the other audio things and am down to just Realtek. And so, how can I get this tab to appear again, this has driven me mad over the last couple of hours and I nearly broke my computer over it. I have also tried countless drivers from anywhere, and I can't get the thing to appear. So, how do I get the sound effects tab to come back?

Hi, which version of the Realtek driver do you have- HD Audio or UAD?

What you report is common. Do you also have Dolby delivered with Realtek updates? Or Nahmic?

I have one laptop (PC Specialist/Clevo) which has that tab still; the other does not, and nothing I've tried will restore it.

None of my newer computers have the old Realtek panel with all the options. My self built desktop, with an ASUS motherboard has "Supreme FX" add on and my Dell laptop has "Wavesmaxx".

My computer had Dolby on it, I eliminated this, deleting it and uninstalling various files to do with it.

I tried that with my Thinkpad, but still could not succeed. It seems there's a built-in factor that prevents that feature being offered; at one point you could get Realtek drivers directly from Realtek - a .tw site; last I looked, that had gone. I also tried the driver used on my other laptop.

well the only way to get the classic Realtek HD Audio manager UI with the Sound Effects tab on certain machines that didn't have them before is maybe with a specially crafted Realtek audio config file (rtkhdaud.dat) made from an undocumented Realtek hda test tool mentioned in this Techpowerup forums thread. that config file has to be stored in the Windows\System32\Drivers folder and needs a reboot for it to take effect after making one or putting one in the Drivers folder

the risk in using such a config file is that it may make a Realtek audio device work differently (certain audio enhancements may stop working after using a config file)

what is the make & model number of your computer, Dan?
use either HWInfo or Speccy (or even the built-in MSInfo32.exe tool) to gather these kinds of info

I've never heard of a MEDION Motherboard, but as mentioned different manufacturers pair up with different third parties, strip the features out and add them back via the third party. I %$#&ing hate it! I also like the default Realtek driver with full features (enhancement tab). This may not help you, but the only way I found to do it with my MSI B450 Gaming Plus (wants Nahimic third party bloatware) board was to use an old HDA, not UAD driver, presumably from before the MSI + Nahimic deal took place. For me it was 6.0.1.8328.

My new ASRock B450 Gaming K4, works fully without any third party nonsense, though it "Supports Creative Sound Blaster™ Cinema 5" and Windows Updates will jam that on top of the existing driver if I allow drivers through Windows Updates, which I do not! I think the idea is to trick us into thinking they're using some uber-gamery "Brand Name" audio instead of plain old Realtek with some bloated, buggy third party crap hijacking the perfectly functional control panel.

I'm sorry for not responding sooner. I had been sick for several days during the New Year's 2020 holiday dealing with a cold & sore throat (not fun )

so you are trying to get a Realtek HD audio driver with a Realtek HD audio manager app that has something like this on your Medion P6689 MD61002 computer (which by the way is a laptop, not a desktop PC)?

edit: found the original driver downloads for that Medion laptop PC model from here.

you must completely uninstall whatever existing Realtek audio driver you had with DDU (display driver utility), reboot and clean install an HDA FF00 driver. latest HDA FF00 driver is now v6.0.8865.1.
