disabling speakers ,virtual cable use & hearing audio from PC Speakers

I have software that requires the use of a Virtual Cable, in order to get the sound from the Internet source into this software I must disable the PC speakers and enable the Virtual Cable IN ,under Windows 10 user interface PLAYBACK audio setup . . . this puts the audio from the Internet source into the Virtual Cable IN . . . the Virtual Cable OUT under Windows 10 user interface RECORDING audio setup then goes into this software . . . this all works perfect because I can see the info from the audio displayed in this software I am using.
But I cannot hear any audio from the PC speakers , the software lets you choose PC SPEAKERS for its OUTPUT . . . but I hear no audio from my PC Speakers.
My question , to feed audio into the Virtual Cable IN I need to disable the PC Speakers as a Playback device , so does this totally disable my speakers at this point ?
The software on its OUTPUT suppose to, feed audio to my PC Speakers , you have that choice and I enabled it ,will it do this even though the PC Speakers are disabled under the Windows 10 user interface Playback audio settings because of the Virtual Cable IN
I am wondering if this is why I hear no audio from PC Speakers ???

Youve hit the nail on the head i reckon. If device not selected, hearing sound from it could be very near impossible.

Im pretty sure all audio would have to go through the sound device to start with. Can you take the virtual cable and software out of the equation for now and get normal sound to work?
I would make sure that the onboard audio or sound card is the 'default device' first. The virtual software is then the next pass through, so look for virtual audio settings where you can select your PC audio device as a 'dx wave output'. If any information here isnt totally correct, i apoligise. I am just thinking like Windows would

    Good luck

It might be the way you set it up. For me - I see system tray options if configured correctly.

Also I need to configure "Playback through speakers" setting.

Ahh nice one Callender ! Picture says a 1000 words, so true.

So the Virtual cable has to be setup in the Record tab, then forwarded through the old sound card, right. Looks fairly easy from your instructions

You can set it up in both playback/ record tabs depending upon your needs.

    Software is here:

    VB-Audio Virtual Apps

Personally I enable when needed and disable otherwise via ControlPanel > Sound

If you are using some other sound recording software it might need configuration:

    For Audacity see screenshot here:

    Stereo Mix no longer appears.
