I had a Realtek 892 built in sound chip. I want to know what is the best default
sound format to set at Realtek HD audio manager ? Is it 24bit 44.1 khz, 24bit 48 khz,
24bit 96khz or 24bit 192khz ? I use my pc for listerning to mp3 (44.1khz) and gaming (48khz).
Trust your own ears.
Maybe they can tell the difference. Maybe not.
usually either Windows or the Realtek audio driver chooses the default format by itself when the Realtek audio driver gets installed.
On most of my PCs using different Realtek audio devices (whether ALC888S on my HP computer, ALC892 on my custom built PC using a Gigabyte board, ALC887 on a friend's ASUS board or even my dad's Toshiba laptop using ALC269), the Default Format for audio playback is set to 24bit, 48Khz or 48000 Hz (Studio Quality) setting [when using analog Speakers for audio output]
edit: If you are using a Digital Audio Output connection (SPDIF Coaxial or Optical), the Default Format setting may be different than with the traditional/analog Speakers/Headphones connection
The best default IS the actual default format.
Intel's HD Audio format created in 2004 --- and every single audio chipset manufactured in the last 15 years --- runs natively at 48 kHz.
