    Can't record from rear input.

    Version 1903 (OS Build 18362. 476)

Device manager tells me that the rear input is working.

However, I can't see or hear any activity from it.

In the screen shot why is there a (2- ) before each item?

    Hi,
Go to Control panel => Sound / Recording tab => Properties of your device / Listen tab,
check Listen to this device box and select desired output.

To record from your input device, you have to go to 'Preferences or Options' of your audio processing app and set that device as the input one.

PS: Kindly, if you like, make your avatar not animated. It's not good for our eyes...

Sound > Recording > the Rear input is greyed out. Part of the greyed out text reads "Currently unavailable."

Making multiple threads about the same issue is not going to speed things up. Matter of fact, it muddles things. That Dell is antiquated by today’s standards. It was one that was cobbled to keep running for businesses that went with 7 before moving up to newer hardware that started to be made for 7 in mind.

Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 is all that was supported (drivers) by Dell. It may work in Win 10 but its iffy if all the devices work or work properly. Best option is to use a USB connected sound device that is Win 10 compatible and has the I/O ports that you want. Some are very reasonable in cost.

    Here is an example ($25)

    Hello @Callender,
Thanks for the tip although it was not needed... I suppose, no one has a problem with animated icons.

The problem was with the kind of animation, a flashing light of a police car which finally has been changed by admin. It was not only annoying but also dangerous.

That's why dear Bree wrote above...:
