My background is PC and electronics hardware. I have held both ham radio and commercial FCC radio licenses. I have been in PC hardware maintenance and hardware help desk since 1973. I have been one of the user support techs (Rockstar as Dell calls us) on the Dell forum since 2002.

If you want to believe others there is no need to go any further with support here. I'm through.

If somebody (many) disagree with you there is no reason to get upset. I made it clear that only opinions are being given.

It does not mean you know more or less; please consider a couple of things. Not everyone will agree with you on every issue. Secondly all the folks that came up with the same exact thought process were not in the same room where it would be psychosomatic if one person said something.

If I hear correctly all these people are wrong (no respect to their opinion or background). There are others such as the individual responsible for a college the size of the city that may be pretty articulate and versed.

    Nobody attacked you here.

To be this upset because others see something different (Plenty of them) is alarming.

    Thank you!

Sorry if I did not make it clear about the applications. Any of the software used to record the CD/DVD. For example a free program Ashampoo or Windows Media Player. In actuality any recording software is having the same issue.

Off-Site I got by now at least a dozen (those in the computer industry) and those that had the same situation all coming up with the reason. While there is somebody here that disagrees, I respect all opinions and wish others would too.

With a plethora of folks explaining they have had the same scenario or attempted to have had it fixed it fits the description they articulated. The Cd/DVD Optical Drive has had a lot of use over the years. It is the first time it has happened to me but about 1/2 of those that gave their view mentioned it was not all that uncommon with HP Computers that were 3 years plus.

Thank you for posting and have a great day!
