Sound issue with front audio jack

I have two computers. Both on windows 10 1903.

If I plug in headphones I have sound. If I unplug them I get sound from the internal speaker. If I plug the headphones in later, I cannot get any sound to come out from the headphones, only the internal speaker. In order to get them to work, I have to go to device manager, and uninstall the realtek audio under sound, video and game controllers. Then I have it scan for hardware changes and it works again if I leave the headphones in the port.

This issue is really bizarre. They are both dells. I have updated the audio driver from both of their support pages with no results.

Windows is up to date, as well as the drivers. Bios has no sound options other than disabling the sound. Bios is up to date.

    1st pc:

The hardware ID for the audio is:
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS_102807A3&REV_1000
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS_102807A3

    Second pc:

The hardware ID for the audio is:
    INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0256&SUBSYS_10280817&REV_1000
    INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0256&SUBSYS_10280817

Also I noticed the speakers and headphones seem to be combined, and I cannot separate them when clicking on the speaker by the clock. I heard you can use the realtek audio control panel to manage this, but I do not have this and when trying to install it from the ten store, it errors and does not install.

Can someone help me make sense of this?

    I have tried the following:

    1. Ran windows audio troubleshooter which found no issues.
    2. I have tried uninstalling all audio devices
    3. Checked bios for sound settings
    4. Reinstalled latest updated drivers
    5. Attempted to download realtek audio manager without success
    6. Disabled all enhancements and application exclusive control.
    7. SFC and dism show nothing wrong

What is the two Dell Models? I do support on the Dell community user support forums and have not seen this problem reported.

One is a dell 3050, the other is a laptop dell latitude 5590.

Edit: Found the solution. Found something called wave max audio pro on the machine. Repair installed it. It is now working.

Thanks. Ya it seems like it doesn't like windows 10 all that much. Cause it seems to crash every now and then or something. I have to manually launch the program sometimes to get the dialog prompt to show to allow it to detect something else was plugged in and give me the option to choose another audio device.

be a little more specific for the first model, Andrew (there are 3 kinds of "Dell 3050s" > Dell Inspiron 3050, Dell Optiplex 3050 and Dell Optiplex 3050 All-In-One [AIO]) - which one is it?

Edit: It appears hardware ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS_102807A3" is from a Dell Optiplex 3050 computer.

Since both IDs HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS_102807A3 and INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0256&SUBSYS_10280817 are mentioned in the HDXADCMAX8.inf and HDXADCMAX8S.inf files of the Realtek HDA drivers, you could try installing this 6.0.8710.1 A21 Realtek HDA driver from Dell, which also has updated MaxxAudio Pro software that works with Win10 version 1903.

    thanks.

in any case, I edited my previous post to mention the v6.0.8710.1 Realtek audio driver for you to try out on both the Optiplex 3050 and Latitude 5590 Dell computers

Thanks but like I said before, the thread is already solved. It was the stupid wave max audio program.

well that "stupid" waves maxxaudio software can be updated from the 8710 driver package. just use 7zip to open the 8710 EXE package and extract the "Maxx Audio Installer (x64).msi" file from the \RealtekHDAudio\WIN64\ folder and double-click on that msi file to install or update the maxxaudio program to a newer version, which may have some bug fixes.
