I have recently built a PC and have tried troubleshooting, new drivers, and all else that I can find but the problem still persists. My pc does not recognise my headset microphone audio as the input, rather it recognises the audio that my headset hears as the input (if I play a video while testing my mic I just hear an echo of the video.)
Anyone who has any posible solutions, they'll be appreciated greatly.
Welcome to the forums. Go to the properties of your mic, advanced tab and make sure listen to device is unchecked

Stereo Mix is OK. With Stereo Mix set as default recording any input device can be heard. The users problem is not what is set as default recording device. "Speakers" (PC sound) should be set as playback device. If HDMI is being used, Windows automatically sets the HDMI as default and that sometimes causes problems.
As its a new build (and apparently never worked properly), first thing is to check the front panel audio connection to the motherboard and verify its connected properly. Also "HD Audio" connector needs to be used for detection, not the AC97 connector. Second the front panel connections on the new (i assume new) case. I had a new build one time with audio connector problems and it was the front panel connections. Corsair (case I used) sent me new front panel electronics and it fixed the problems.
The rear motherboard I/O should have a MIC input jack (normally Pink color) and I would try that to see if it works. Headset connected to the speaker jack (usually green color jack).
