You are using old and unpatched drivers --- so that just evens out the crashing probabilities.
You are just creating problems for yourself --- even buying a discrete sound card that didn't work out. All the while a simple solution would be just try the new drivers with nahimic.
I did try it. Thought it was garbage. The "old and unpatched" drivers work 100% perfectly and have all the effects intact. If that ever changes as Windows updates, I'll just use newer ones and do without the effects tab I guess. It's not that big of a deal...but to me, using Nahimic is. Not going to happen.

So you did try it, did it crash on you?

We know that there were bug fixes as they are sometimes specified in oem's release notes.

    https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/r13ar12w.txt

Windows 10 gets features update every 6 months, so don't come back and complain every 6 months. You've made your bed, now lie in it.

Sandy Thank you a lot for your informative Driver's info. that does go right to Lenovo's site. This is out of the park question but how is a Checksum calculated?
Don't worry about the checksum, just read how to update individual folders and how to uninstall previous Realtek hd audio manager IF you had them.

ah you're back Quexos. you could try one of these old 6.0.1.8328 HDA drivers from the MS Catalog site to see if they work on your computer and retain the Realtek EQ/environment effects (8328 HDA download 1) (8328 HDA download 2) - no Nahimic integration files included

I'm using the 6.0.1.8308 from MS Catalog. That was my point to the OP...in case his board was like mine and he wanted the Advanced/Effects tab without extra 3rd party software. Not sure about the 8328, it might be good too...I've just not had a reason to try it yet since 8228 (my old favorite for sound quality) and 8308 (seems just as good, slightly newer) both work fine. I'll just stick with that until I can't anymore if things change too much in Windows....or use my Asus Xonar SE, if/when they fix their drivers.

now leis, I need the hardware device ID number of the Realtek High Definition Audio or Realtek Audio device in Device Manager. Go to this site on how to find the hardware ID for a particular device in Device Manager:
How to Find Hardware ID: 9 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow

example - on my friend's PC using an ASUS M5A78L-M LE/USB3 motherboard using a Realtek ALC887 audio device, the Hardware IDs listed for it in Device Manager are the following:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_10438576&REV_1003
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0887&SUBSYS_10438576

I ask this because I may try to find particular HDA or UAD drivers that may be compatible with a certain Hardware ID on your Lenovo ideacentre computer, leis.

    Why are you still looking?

I already found you the correct Lenovo driver and told you to follow the written instructions in the readme file.

Ok, here's the copied ID Hardware info for the Realtek Drivers currently running. There's an additional Intel (R) Display Audio that I'll copy as well or if that's necessary(?)

    Realtek (R) Audio:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0235&SUBSYS_17AA36EB&REV_1000
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0235&SUBSYS_17AA36EB

    ____________
Because I wanted to see if there's an HDA driver that might be better than the other UDA drivers & if they are better than the current (R) drivers...That's all.
But in looking at the instructions meanwhile in the Readme (and BTW, Thank you a LOT for helping me, really i do appreciate it).
But can i copy and show you something:
    1. Go to "Control Panel¡¨and select "Hardware and Sound".
    2. Select "Device Manager" on Devices and Printers
    3. Right click on the "High Definition Audio Device" of Device Manager and select "Update Driver Software" on pop up menu.
    4. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" option.
    5. Browse Realtek Audio driver location and press "Next" button.
    6. Installing Realtek Audio driver.
    7. Windows has finished installing the Realtek audio driver.
The High Def Audio Device Part under mine or from following that Device....tab mine is High Def. Audio Controller is that the same thing?

Yes. Hd audio controller is just the name Microsoft gives when you are using their generic driver.

Thanks. So, that's where I'll start the process and carry on the directions for install on the 'controller' High Def. Audio.
