flash drive for car

I have no disc player for my car so I successfully ripped files from a CD to a flash drive and it works in the car.
I have a 32 GB flash drive and there is plenty of room but I cannot add more file to it.
It seems media player does not recognize the flash drive and sees the CD I ripped. This is in the upper right of the player.
I was lucky the first time and am not sure what I am doing. is there n easier way to put many CD files on the flash drive?
I find WMP very confusing and have VLC installed but that is also difficult to understand.
AS it stands I have 7 files on the flash drive and ripped 7 more that are waiting to be burned to the flash drive if I can get the player to recognize the flash drive.

Are the files in MP3 format?

Your car player may require that they are.

You should check your playback unit's manual or go to the manufacturer's web site for it.

Car playback from a USB stick requires that the stick be formatted in a certain way. That may differ by manufacturer, but as far as I know FAT32 is the standard--at least for mp3s. I have a Pioneer unit and if I try exFAT, it will throw an error and not recognize or play anything.

There are tools that will allow you to format a USB stick as FAT32 if you can't get Windows to do it.

Such as HPUSBdisk.exe or fat32format.exe or guiformat.exe

You may have better luck trying to format via a USB 2.0 port rather than 3.0.

I already played the first 7 songs in the car, as I said. The files are not large I have used 32 MB out of 28 GB. Let me study the link.

Is your problem that you cannot make mp3s from your CDs?

Or that you cannot then get the mp3s to play in the car?

I would wipe the USB stick clean and reformat it as FAT32 in case that is part of the problem.

Concentrate on getting the mp3s ripped onto your PC hard drive first and confirm they play properly direct from the hard drive.

Do you intend to use folders of some sort on the USB stick--like an Elvis folder or a Blues folder? Or just dump all the mp3s onto the stick without a folder structure? I do the latter and just use random play, but you have to consider what your playback plans are. The folder navigation capabilities on car units is fussy and I don't want to do that at all.

Some car units have a restriction on the number of folders allowed. Others are limited only by the total file count (15,000 on my Pioneer).

My car radio doesn't have a usb socket, but it does have a CD player that can play mp3 files. So I put all my mp3s on a CD.
