After downloading a few Realtek drivers, I found out that version 8648, 8652 and
8656 and a few others has a folder name (WOV) inside but most of the version did
not have this particular file. Anyone know what this file for, is this file necessary ?
what kind of computer are you using, teots?
WOV = wake on voice as sandyt noted (used on few certain Lenovo, Dell brand PCs)
the wov files from the older HDA drivers take up some space and were removed in HDA drivers greater than 8656
Hi erpster4, i'm using a DIY computer, you can view my computer specs by clicking on my computer.
I did not update my Realtek driver (8652) because I not sure if this WOV file is important. Do you think I can copy the WOV file to an updated driver that do not have this WOV file and still able to install this WOV file together with a driver version that do not have this file?

the WOV files are only installed & used on specific name brand PCs like Acer, Dell, Lenovo etc. and with few specific models of their machines only (look at the HDXWOVLVSST.INF file in the older 8652 HDA drivers - that's an INF file used for certain few LENOVO based Realtek SST audio devices that do use the WOV files) and are non-essential to your custom built or DIY machine (anyway the WOV files are useless on your ASRock board). the current & recent Realtek HDA drivers will work fine without them. you do NOT need to worry about not having the WOV files because you are not using a certain Lenovo brand machine.
