Is there or is there not a default Windows 10 equalizer?

In spite of online advice that instructs me to right-click the sound icon and select "playback", playback does not exist as an option. I have the feeling that Windows 10 does not have its own equalizer and that I may have to download an equalizer program. Can anyone give me correct information? Thanks.

Never was one unless you have software installed that behaves as one.

Almost every MOBO and laptop these days has an integrated Audio.

Right click Sound Icon > Open Sound Settings > Sound Control Panel > Playback > click on Speakers > Properties > Enhancements Tab > tick box for Equaliser. Click on 3 dots to right of Setting: below.

Part of the very common Realtek audio chipset. Not part of Windows 10 as such but you should have that in some form.

You can also take these routes:
Control Panel > Sound > click on Speakers > and same as above.
Control Panel > Realtek HD Audio Manager > Sound Effects Tab > Graphic Equalizer icon.

Windows Media Player has a built-in equalizer.

Using the Windows Media Player 12 Equalizer

Whether there is or is not an enhancements tab seems variable. On one PC there was not, but always has been since I downloaded a particular version of Realtek. If there is an enhancements tab you should see an equaliser.

On this PC nothing I tried removed Dolby Atmos, and no enhancements tab, so I use APO (Peace Equaliser) and Reatek HD Audio is installed but no Realtek equaliser. Setting Doby Atmos to do nothing was a big improvement.

    It is a frustration.

what kind of computer are you using, aldra? use a program like HWINFO or Speccy to gather specs of your computer, including what kind of audio device it has.

well dalchina, I have the Enhancements tab of the Speakers for Realtek HD audio (but only when using traditional Realtek HDA drivers. Realtek UAD drivers will not have the Enhancements tab and EQ options from UAD drivers can only be accessed thru the Realtek Audio Console UWP app installed from the MS store. The EQ options and the Enhancements tab will only be available thru legacy Realtek HD audio drivers.

only Realtek HDA (nonUAD) drivers will have the following (this is on my old HP m8417c computer) - I even have an SRS Premium Sound tab because the Realtek ALC888S chip on the HP seems to support SRS
