Problem with Realtek High Definition Driver

    Hello
I had a new computer built, inbstalled Windows 10 Professional 64 bits
Realtek High Definition drivers were installed
But, from time to time (I would say frequently, 2 or 3 times an hour), sounds is switched off
A dialogi=ue image is displayed - If I click on the green "port" at the bottom, and answer "OK" several times, everything comes back to order ... until the next time ...
I updated to the last level of drivers, but without success
Any idea to fix this ?
    Thanks Have a good day

I have the same Realtek and the ROG Supreme FX.
    Not having any problems.

Are you using HDMI? If you are and not using HDMI audio, disable the HDMI audio in the Device Manager and see if that helps. That is how my system is set up.

    Thank you
I éunactivated" the 2 entries related to NVIDIA and it seems to work

Does that mean that when I installed the NVIDIA card, that some "sound" drivers were installed and conflicted with the Realtek drivers ?

    Have a good day

Yes, the NVIDIA (or AMD for Radeon) drivers also install audio drivers. If an HDMI cable is connected to the PC Widows automatically sets the HDMI as the default audio playback device. If not using HDMI audio, disabling that in the device manager will prevent Windows from using it.

I had to do the same thing with my desktop as I use HDMI for my monitor but Realtek for PC audio.

The Windows automatic switching wasn't in some older OS versions. I don't remember if Win 7 automatically switched but I think Win 8/8.1 did.

I've been working with commerical computers, maintenance and operations and even some programming, since mid 60's. I'm an old guy.

    Me too !

    I 'm now retired (for 17 years)
I used to work with IBM and was part of the team who announced the PC here in Europe in 1983
So, I've known PC-DOS, Windows 1.... I came from the main frames and it was a very interesting time !!!!
