Best Win 10 driver for C-Media 6206 LX based 5.1 USB sound card
My laptop, originally win 7, upgraded to Win 10 has just died and I have replaced it with a shiny new Win 10 Laptop.
I have a 5.1 Ch USB sound card which I believe had a C-Media 6206 LX as it's basis.
The Win 10 upgrade process worked well on the old laptop and I was able to use all the features and configure the card and test the channels etc.
Plugging it in to me new laptop I get a generic USB Sound device driver. When I search for a new driver, the response is that the current driver is the best driver - but I know it isn't! All the drivers for C-Media 6206 based cards I can find to download go to Win 8.1 at best and they won't install under Win 10.
None of the drivers on the CD that came with the device will install (Win 7 is the latest on the CD).
1. Is there any way to get Win 10 to use the drivers I had before - which I know are better that the ones it is currently using?
2. Failing that, I have the hard drive from the old laptop - now in a USB drive caddy. Is there any way of identifying which driver was installed for this device by looking at anything on the old hard drive and maybe transfer to the new laptop?
Seems daft to buy a new sound card because I can't find the latest S/W for it!
